Coyle-Larner "....That’s the real travesty: he’s so incredible at cooking, but in the first 16 years of his life, nobody found that out.” ‘It undoes negative wiring’: rapper Loyle Carner on his ADHD cookery school @WomenAdhd @ADHD_Europe @ADHDSheppey https://t.co/1T98sY1Nr2

In one study of women who weren’t diagnosed with #ADHD or #autism until adulthood, many participants reported feeling like they were “wrong” and didn’t fit in anywhere..... @WomenAdhd @WomensHealthMag @ADHDSheppey @womensbrainpro https://t.co/jF57EAJSiR

Introducing, Bert, the Happy Tally. He gets a quick 'tap' on the head when I'm having a happy or positive thought or if I get a great email, a smile on Zoom, a compliment or if I've achieved something great. What do you do to recognise the positive aspects of your day?!

Having a deep understanding of how ADHD affects your loved one is imperative. A visit to the cinema was a struggle and we’d leave before the film had even started. We learned that this sort of environment wasn’t right for him so chose other activities and had a much happier boy.

@ADHDSheppey has been busy over the last few months. We’ve taught our first cohort of Mini ADHD peer mentors, updated our ADHD Awesome psycho education programme and have been working with local schools. We’ve had a busy year so far!

Using the Life Wheel with our ADHD Peer Mentors has been a great success. ADHD Sheppey is still going strong and has been working hard, through Covid, supporting families with the challenges they’ve been facing. We’re nine years strong and have great plans for 2021!

Watching young people evolve and become empowered by their ADHD is a joy to behold! Today we focussed on the benefits of a positive growth mindset. One of the cohort (11) quoted Mandela. She views failure as an opportunity to grow. She is going to be a fantastic Peer Mentor!

When all this is over, can we hire the O2 and get Danny Boyle to stage a moving, visual depiction of the past 12 months? After which, we’ll throw a huge party for all the heroes of the pandemic.

Supporting your child at home can be a huge challenge, particularly if you are working from home as well as looking after other children. As a parent/carer managing our emotions is, quite possibly, the most important lesson to learn. It can be done and you will reap the benefits.
