Redrawing “autism”. Nuanced approach to understanding differences across many aspects. Balances the paradox of the language of autism being useful but the “hard” definition being challenging to both personal identities and clinical practices.

“the forest of surprises” - the front line in Ukraine. It sounds like not all western weapons are not getting to volunteer battalions. https://t.co/n7dGNCGSJO

Interesting view on how US supported Soviet WW2 industrialisation … and debt led to Stalin’s brutal repressions. NB I am not a historian and lazily haven’t fact checked, so corroborations would be valuable.
Why Russia can't win against the West Russia is often portrayed as the invincible military power. And yet, this reputation is based on two wars - Napoleonic and WWII. In both cases Russia won only thanks to the alliance allied with *the* leading economic powerhouse of that era🧵

Among all the “insane prompts” AI copy here’s something rather beautiful
One of my dear friends asked me to train a Stable Diffusion model on photographs of his mother. He was very close with his mother who was a single mother. They had a lot of adventures together. She passed away way too soon. I trained a model locally and let him use my computer

Seems Google fears open source AI will outpace it and ChatGPT very soon
Leaked Google document: “We Have No Moat, And Neither Does OpenAI” The most interesting thing I've read recently about LLMs - a purportedly leaked document from a researcher at Google talking about the huge strategic impact open source models are having https://t.co/q2lsjTHKGS

Dean being disruptive - so good to get back to live events again @FuturenetW - thank you for the invitation!
Now a keynote from @ADCCo on enterprise demands on telcos Good points on maturity & credibility I don’t agree with the phasing of “digitalisation” Digital predates computing. It’s 100+ years old. It’s not new. Current transformation is in many ways post-digital

It matters what you stand for
#OTD My great-great-aunt Mildred Harnack was beheaded on Hitler’s direct order. Born in Milwaukee, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin & moved to Germany to pursue a PhD. As an American grad student in Berlin, she witnessed a rapid increase in Hitler's popularity. 1/12

FOMO. I am deluged with ChatGPT tweets like the new crypto: “boost your productivity 10x” etc. I’ve had a play with it but haven’t yet cracked how to make it useful to my daily life/work. Any tips? By real people actually doing stuff not flogging something, if that is possible.

There will be about 1,500 #network #edge sites by 2025. Watch this video collaboration with @STLPartners and @nearbycomputing to learn about operators' primary aim for edge computing, providing access to roundtrip #latency of 10-20 msec for edge applications. #SeriesOnEdge

Fascinating insight that intelligence is normally biased towards flattering leadership viewpoints, until sufficient defeat ensures reality bites… for a while. Then it goes back to flattery. I think this shows you should always seek dissent and ensure it is properly heard.
One of the pleasures of going WW2 historical research on General Douglas MacArthur's Section 22 radar hunters in the Southwest Pacific is the scope it gives you for looking at WW2. Today's surprise involved Germany & Allied intelligence limitations. 1/9
