Yesterday, ACORN members gathered in Bristol for our union’s first national convention ✊🚩✊. There was the boring convention stuff – speeches, workshops, massive simulated skirmish against bailiffs which made the neighbours come and take pictures in amazement, etc. 🧵

We had a big branch meeting last week, plotting and planning to stop MORE luxury developments in Brighton, and making sure council housing is built instead. We talked about upcoming ACORN Board Elections, the by-election in Queen's Park, and planned a big branch action!

🚩 NEW CASE OPENED - LOCAL CHURCH HIKES RENT! ✊. ACORN Member Kirki has been slapped with a massive 16% rent hike by her landlord, @DorsetGardensMC, and letting agency @ChasemoreKing. This increase adds up to nearly £150 extra a month. Kirki is already struggling with an injury!

What is going on in @BrightonHoveCC's housing department? Just in the last few days we've had a flooded house, a "mistaken" eviction notice and now a roof collapsing on a young family. Everyone deserves a decent home, not just those who can afford extortionate house prices!
