Screening for #CervicalCancer is offered by GPs, but in the future, people could take their own samples at home. Research has shown that self-sampling has a lower carbon footprint than in-person sampling. https://t.co/o8Qsupfxxh

Here’s the YouScreen paper. Finally we may be able to reverse years of declining cervical screening coverage. @doctoranita @CancerNel @nclcancer @eClinicalMed

Opportunistically offering self-sampling to under-screened women in primary care could increase coverage in England and potentially reach underserved populations.

Cervical screening is an important test to help prevent cancer. It should be easily accessible for everyone who needs it, and so we welcome the results of the You Screen trial which found that HPV self-sampling could help more women and people with a cervix to access screening.
The eagerly awaited results of the You Screen trial on HPV self-sampling tests have been published today and show it could be a game-changer for people who haven’t attended their cervical screening. You can read more about what this news means in our thread below! 🧵

I’m in awe of @DrKC_Njoku - his research (supervised by @ProfEmmaCrosbie) to identify a point of care test for endometrial cancer is of the up most importance and he is the person to do it. As always KC spent a good hour saying how he’d screwed up his presentation. Obv’ he won.

Please help shape an inclusive future for cervical screening and consider filling out this survey! Please share far and wide ☺️
Cervical screening saves lives but attendance is dropping especially in ethnically diverse population. Help us understand if a choice of self sampling would help you get screened in the future. https://t.co/DepMEN3quC
