Vaccinating girls aged 9–14 could prevent 30–40% of cervical cancer deaths between 2015 and 2030. HPV vaccines work best if delivered prior to exposure to the virus. The World Health Organization recommends vaccinating girls aged 9–14, when most have not started sexual activity.

Kenyans have taken a critical step in preventing cervical cancer. The Ministry of Health is providing every girl in Kenya with Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccination when she reaches the age of 10. More than 800,000 girls will be vaccinated every year.

#CervicalCancer is the most common HPV-related cancer and an estimated 80% of people will get an HPV infection in their lifetime. While HPV is common, stigmatization often prevents patients with HPV-associated cancers from achieving the best possible outcome for their diseases.

When cancer starts in the uterus, it is called #UterineCancer (or womb cancer). The most common type occurs when abnormal cells grow in the endometrium (endometrial cancer). A much rarer type is uterine sarcoma, which forms in the muscles and supporting tissues of the uterus.
