It may be mid-October, but today will feel more like mid-September. Highs will reach the upper-70s...about 10-15° above average. A strong cold front moves in overnight with the risk of damaging winds & a brief tornado. Make sure you have a way to receive alerts. @6abc

Who's ready for a mild October weekend? High clouds drift in today, but temps still climb near 70°. Tomorrow turns even warmer & gusty, with highs closer to 80° than 70° ahead of a cold front. @6abc

FALL FOLIAGE Today's update from @ExploreFall shows you don't have to drive far to find peak conditions. Just keep in mind that with the dry conditions we have duller colors than usual this year and leaf drop will happen quickly.

SNOW IN THE AIR On the highest summit in New England today. Admittedly this is at 6,288 feet of elevation, but a sign that we continue to head toward winter.
The first measurable snowfall of the season took place early this morning (October 16th). While accumulations were very light, rime ice produced from freezing fog is adding to the appearance of a snow-dusted Mount Washington.

COLD NIGHT AHEAD Winds won't drop off completely or these numbers would be even lower with dewpoints right now in the 20s. It will be our coolest night of the fall so far here in Philadelphia with patchy frost in the northwest suburbs.

CHILLY WINDS Wind gusts have reached 30-35mph for many locations this afternoon. With temperatures in the low 60s there's a definite fall chill in the air and you need a jacket if you are headed outside.

MIDWEEK HIGHS Temperatures will head back toward 70 with more in the way of clouds the first half of the day and more in the way of sunshine the second half. This all thanks to a cold front moving through and kicking up a northerly breeze.

Chilly fall nights ahead! The city will wake up in the 40s, with suburbs dipping into the 30s. With high pressure still off to the northwest midweek & a bit of an overnight breeze, frost isn't likely until Friday or Saturday morning for some. @6abc

DID YOU SEE IT? From midday into early afternoon we had a few breaks in the cloud deck along I-95 that teased us with some sunshine. That has all disappeared now, but high pressure moving in for the end of this week will bring back sunshine.

TUESDAY'S PLANNER After a cloudy and damp start we dry things out for the afternoon with perhaps a peek or two of sun before sunset. Highs right around seasonable levels.

COASTAL STORM RECAP Some areas along the coast have seen wind gusts of 60mph, rainfall near 3" and moderate tidal flooding. Much less impact was felt inland toward the I-95 corridor where only around 1/2" of rain fell.

Tomorrow will be a slow transition day as the coastal storms moves out. Expect plenty of clouds & a shower or two in the morning. It'll stay cloudier down the shore all day long...but folks farther inland could catch some sunshine later in the day. @6abc

Our coastal storm lingers nearby today, bringing continued concerns for tidal flooding. Watch early this afternoon as moderate to major flood stages may be reached. The High Wind Warning has expired, but occasional gusts of 30–40mph are still possible. @6abc
