This has been in the works for quite some time. I talked with Coach McDonnell about this project in September when they hosted the Miracle League at JPS. They originally hoped to announce the facility around the Leadoff Dinner, but were still figuring out the finances.
Coach McDonnell just discussed plans for a new indoor hitting facility next to the current bullpen/hitting facility and mentions Will Smith as a lead donor.

Louisville (42-24) falls to (13) Coastal Carolina 11-3 to end their season in the College World Series. What a special run by this group to get the program back where it belongs, representing the university to the highest standard along the way. As Dan says, “We’ll be back.”
