Why isn’t the selection committee just 12 bracketologists who live and breathe this stuff instead of people with huge financial incentives to help or screw over certain teams/leagues. Is that a crazy idea.
Whether North Carolina should be in or not is a good debate. Their AD is the chairman of the selection committee but cannot be in the room when the Tar Heels are discussed. But it’s human nature that it doesn’t hurt UNC’s chances when other members of the committee have spent so.

The *entire* Big Ten hasn’t won a national title since 2000. The *entire* Pac-12 hasn’t won a title since 1997. The *entire* Big 12 won one title between 1988 and 2021. Those teams get tested plenty. Winning national titles is just hard - it’s boring but that’s all it is.
Part of why Gonzaga hasn’t won a National Championship is because they are rarely put in a position to get a legitimate test from January until March Madness. I do think having that late season competition plays a factor in sharpening a team come March.

I no longer think Houston is going to win the 2026 title.
BREAKING: Houston has landed a commitment from Creighton transfer Pop Isaacs, he told @thefieldof68. The 6-2 junior guard averaged 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game this past season before having season-ending hip surgery. Isaacs played eight games and had 27

I can’t even fathom how good a team with both Josh Dix and Owen Freeman on it can be.
Creighton has landed Iowa transfer Josh Dix, source told @TheFieldOf68. The 6-6 junior averaged 14.4 points per game and shot 42 percent from 3.

Patriot race is going to be awesome. Look at this beauty, entire league within 2 games of each other
@2ndChancePoints Patriot league this year is comical. Could be a conference race for the ages if Colgate doesn’t pull away. 11-7 could get it done.

Here's another way to look at this. Conf records vs. other Power 6 leagues:. Big 12: 30-24 (55.6%).Big East: 27-23 (54.0%).SEC: 37-32 (53.6%).ACC: 29-31 (48.3%).Big Ten: 24-26 (48.0%).Pac-12: 13-24 (35.1%). Big boys vs. big boys, the Big 12 was the best.
I caught a lot of crap for saying I thought the Big XII had gamed the system. These aren't baseless claims. I don't think the league is as good as it has been this season. The reason? They haven't played anyone at all during the nonconference, beat the life out of teams ranked.

You have to love Jeff starting a “Mizzou beat the #1 team” tweet with an insult. That’s commitment.
Missouri has put together one of the worst non-conference schedules in the country to this point, but Dennis Gates and the Tigers just hung on for a huge resume win over Kansas. Big game for former Indiana Hoosier Tamar Bates with 29. Former No. 1 Kansas has now lost 2.

Bummer for Mizzou, but more importantly — we have to, as a society, stop all-capitalizing EDGE. It is not an acronym like DT or DE or ILB or RB or WR . We can be the change.
BREAKING: Missouri True Freshman EDGE Williams Nwaneri plans to enter the Transfer Portal, he tells @on3sports. The 6’6 265 EDGE will have all 4 years of eligibility remaining . Was ranked as a Five-Star Plus+ Recruit in ‘24 (No. 1 EDGE).

This is so perfect that it’s maddening.
South Dakota State grad transfer and All-Summit League First Team selection Oscar Cluff has committed to Purdue. The 6’11” center started all 30 games played, averaging 17.6 points on 63% FG, 12.3 rebounds (#2 in the country), and 2.8 assists per game. Purdue has landed their

Damn. Revolutionary thinking here, disrupting the coaching industry.
I could turn the Mizzou basketball program around in 2 years… . Recruiting: They need to lock up the top talent in state & bring in a few out-of-state studs. Development: They need to prove they can help improve players pro stock. Culture: They need to make it cool to be a Tiger.

Huge bummer to find out that Tylor Perry and Max Abmas are not playing college hoops this season. I assume that must be the case.

The idea that free throw attempts should just be equal in every game is such a weird basketball notion. Teams play super differently. Purdue plays through a 7’4 monster mismatch who can’t be guarded w/o fouling + scares foes into jumpers. That leads to more FTs than opponents.
Was thinking about Purdue/Bama and how Zach Edey was refereed- so decided to look it up:. In Purdue's 4 biggest games this year: Gonzaga, Tenn, Marquette + Bama - Purdue is +44 in FT margin. Easy to beat the best teams on your schedule - when you're averaging 11 more FT's a game.
