telling cis people that gender and sex are fundamentally distinct b/c they weren't ready for more than the trans 101 was just a huge mistake, long term.
It’s fine to object to historical figures being called ‘gay’, ‘trans’, ‘non-binary’ etc. on the grounds that’s it’s anachronistic, but you know you gotta do the same with ‘heterosexual’ and ‘straight’, right
So much of anti-trans discourse is just sexual harassment and idk why more people don’t see this or why I only really began to see it relatively recently
-"god isn't real"
entry level edgelord shit, a widely held view, stopped being provocative on youtube ca. 2008.
-"tables aren't real"
subversive, radical, still capable of winding people up.
"If you misgender a trans person, Twitter will ban you for life"... mate, there are people on this site who talk openly about carrying knives into public toilets incase they run into a trans woman, and they haven't been banned.
Britain is a way stupider country than America. In America when there’s a “children identifying as cats” story there is at least a “liberal media” that says “no that’s obviously not true.” In the UK our “liberal media” are like “people have legitimate concerns about cat kids.”
JKR apologists are sad in all sorts of ways but surely the saddest thing of all is having to pretend that she’s a great writer just because you like her anti-trans views.
Two “biological females” on an island. Who put them there and why? They’d “talk loads” because they’re women, I suppose. What would they talk about? How humanity will die out. But if there was a male and a female they could shag and have babies, and those kids would grow up and?
“Gender critical” is an eliminationist hate movement and nobody who identifies with it should be a social worker or otherwise working with vulnerable people. Sorry, but that’s how it is.
listen it’s not my fault if you don’t know about the importance of sheep farming to the rural welsh economy and the national stereotype that comes with that.
“By criticising the ideology of the Christchurch shooter, you are doing what he wants” - every right-wing social media “personality” who definitely doesn’t share the shooter’s ideology, but is being weirdly defensive about the whole thing for some reason.
Should do Julius Caesar next. Cancelled by his work colleagues simply for refusing to be forced into resigning his job and then crossing a river and becoming dictator. Yes, really. Cancelled for crossing a river. Political correctness gone mad.
It’s some kind of dystopian Swiss Family Robinson. But y’know, it’s less “Robinson”, more “Fritzl.” Let’s just hope they can fish! Conclusion: and that’s why binary sex matters.
Didn’t
@jk_rowling
say she’d “march with” us “if” we were being oppressed/discriminated against, or something like that? She’s not said anything about the latest round of attacks on trans kids so I’m wondering what her idea of “oppression” and “discrimination” are.
You are all shamefully dunking on Buck Angel, but it’s a fact that he was a trans trailblazer. He was arguably the first openly trans person to run a pyramid scheme. Show some respect for your tranpa, young’uns!
I have a theory btw that the recent surge in transphobia on the British liberal-left is partly motivated by veiled homophobia - they're offloading all these traditional anti-gay tropes onto a more 'legitimate' target, allowing them to maintain a veneer of liberal-mindedness.
Love how “born in the wrong body” was just a way to explain transness to unthinking cis people but then they started *thinking*, with absolutely catastrophic results.
Transphobes who are freaking out because Kimberlé Crenshaw and Catherine MacKinnon are trans-inclusive... like, where the fuck have you been for the past 20-30 years.
