@25_cycle @dorfman_p If we avoided nuclear because it’s hard nothing worthwhile would ever be achieved. If it were me, I’d be building modern high-efficiency coal-fired power stations (get rid of Victoria’s unhealthy brown coal) and go nuclear in smaller communities. Cheap power cures poverty.

Low Info loser. 1) 1 phase HVDC vs 3 phase AC so fewer cables.2) Much more efficient so you lose dramatically less I²R power loss & much lighter cable per Km.3) MUCH EASIER TO CONTROL PHASE ANGLE with DC which has no phase on the transmission cable.Some ppl are clueless.

To get that HV DC, the generator needs a step up transformer, high voltage rectifier and the other end needs equipment to convert the HV DC to AC and then integrate that into the grid and that's per wind turbine, Much additional cost.

@_ClimateCraze You can DIRECTLY measure Greenhouse Effect simply by substracting the high temp from the low of the day because once the sun goes away, how much heat is lost depends directly on GHE. The greater the GHE, the closer the high and low will be. Funny thing, that value hasn't changed.
