One guy who I’m quietly excited about is Nolan Tucker. He slashed .365/.431/.516 in ‘22 and .298/.406/.415 in ‘23 for Valpo while playing solid defense only committing 3 errors in 2023. I would be happy with a .406 OBP season out of him. Oh yeah he also tripled vs. us last year

The nice thing about these past two games is that we’ve actually had pitches to hit. Marist threw a TON of balls, and it’s really hard to time up pitches when you throw so many balls. Excited to see how we continue to improve this weekend

It’s so frustrating watching sloppy baseball after years of watching solid baseball. Pitchers not checking runners, UGLY errors, and catchers not throwing out a soul. Those add up.
However, this is a young team, so this is somewhat expected. But youth cannot become our crutch.

So we hit .163 with 22 BB and 18 K’s vs Marist and hit .209 vs. Missouri State with 16 BB and 25 K’s. Numbers are’t where they need to be, but they’re getting better. More importantly we won both series, but much tougher tests are on the horizon

This is the most excited part of the RGC news to me… if they can bring in fun bands. Skynyrd was in Hattiesburg in 1975, and I’ve had an old timer tell me they saw Merle Haggard there a looooong time ago.
It was very clear through the presentation that this venue is not just for Southern Miss Basketball but for the community as well.
Mayor Toby Barker highlighted this here:
“We don’t have a venue right now for concerts or shows that is over 1,000 seats…”
