@1littlecoder The fun thing about taste is that it often outpaces our skills, so we always feel behind. This is why so many of us struggle to get our vision done alone and then, in turn, with people capable of bringing it to life.

Hi everyone, I work in high-end hospitality planning bespoke trips in Asia. I usually do this for VIP clients, but I've been lurking here and see a lot of first-timers stressing out about logistics. To keep my skills sharp (and verify a new workflow I'm testing), I have some

My conspiracy theory is that Rick Rubin has enormous technical mastery. His character of a 'vibe artist' is constructed to put his clients at ease. That ease creates the confidence to innovate.

@1littlecoder Actually vibe coding can only be done be great coders. Honestly, if you simply copy paste whatever the llm throws at you, its gonna be a costly problem for you. You still need an accountant who can do the calculation without a calculator to use the calculator.

@1littlecoder Tried this with western union. Didn't pass the interview. They couldn't appreciate someone writing working code they couldn't explain. Pfftt...

@1littlecoder This is true! Know thyself. I didn't know squat about classical ballet, but I knew something intuitively. I could pick out who had the chops to be a ballerina when they were 7 years old. "I know what I like," is what I always answer when they ask me how I do these things.

@1littlecoder i have a theory that every band that knew what they wanted or just didnt want to work with a producer was sent with Rick Rubin and he was like barely working there and just working as a fucking guru or something and they noticed that they all just were amazing

@1littlecoder That is how talking to some candidates, even with a decade of experience, feels these days.

@1littlecoder Taste is just pattern recognition plus standards. You've seen enough good stuff to know what bad looks like. That's experience compressed into instinct.

@1littlecoder "The confidence in my taste" is just code for "I write code that only makes sense to me at 3AM and I'm okay with that." Peak developer energy right there. 😏
