@1804davey No LLM could have ever independently built React Native Worklets or Vision Camera, short of plagiarism. LLMs are great at commonplace tasks, but an absolute frustration for anything innovative. So be an innovator!

We've just published the release calendar for React Native in 2026. You will find it at https://t.co/3hlJkpUlZm Predictable releases means that you will know beforehand when we branch cut and when we ship a new release, making for a more stable ecosystem for everyone.

I'm not super fan of the idea, as: - sharp is working very well and is battle tested - some issues could occurs with SVG, we never know π

Some users are pushing to replace sharp in react-native-bootsplash as some parts (of the latest versions) are using LGPL v3. But if I get this right: - https://t.co/xg4B1QW8wi - https://t.co/jeLFPpRrfw This shouldn't be an issue, and apps just need to comply to Apache 2? π€

Question about an existing feature What are you trying to achieve? I am looking at the license of sharp and see that it is Apache 2.0, however an underlying dependency vips is LGPL. (https://github...

I spent the last two weeks context engineering (100% AI coding) a new project in Rust. Here are my learnings: * Felt really unproductive. * Too slow. Minutes in plan mode + minutes in edit mode. * Made only a dozen commits per day. * Workflow kept breaking because of waiting,

Yestarday morning (yes, on Sunday π₯²), I FINALLY took the time to add SSR support to react-native-localize. Any review / comment before the release would be nice! https://t.co/T4qZbH9MHT

I plan to drop support of some unsupported OS versions (iOS < 15.1, Android SDK < 24), and I think it will not be a major bump for my libraries (ex: 5.4.2 -> 5.5.0) It always has been clear in the README, and will be in the release changelog. WDYT? yea or nay?

The FFMPEG stuff is pretty crazy because it's a tiny poorly funded Open Source project which underpins basically every large, multi-million dollar or billion dollar video based company, all of which contribute very little except "urgent" bug reports. Literally XKCD 2347.

What's next? I'm going to work on my open source libraries, release a micro-SaaS, and probably find a new job by 2026. Stay in touch!
