When I was writing #ComradesAndComebacks,I was very clear that the language has to be devoid of jargon and and the concepts easy for a layperson to comprehend. Sharing Former MP Rajya Sabha @jawharsircar da 's byte after my #Kolkata book launch.

My Grand Daughter, NURA, making waves in UK. Writing skills seem to have rubbed off on her from her mother, Saira Shah Halim who recently launched her book ‘ Comrades & Comebacks’ in Delhi and Kolkata.

‘Catch em Young’. I was pleasantly surprised to see the discipline and high standards at the Regency Public School, Sitapur, where I was invited. Here is a young 7 Year old lad marching up to the podium. We need schools like this to inculcate discipline and pride in our young.

Just saw this wonderful movie. I went because I saw ‘ Tea House of the August Moon’, which dealt with the romance of an American Serviceman, in Japan, in forbidden love with a Japanese girl, in the 1960s. This movie was just as interesting with good music and an unusual ending.

Saira Shah Halim doesn’t mince words criticising narrow minded, blinkered vision. I stand in support of my daughter.

Urdu Academy in Bengal couldn’t have done greater disservice to Urdu by cancelling the Urdu festival because Doyen of Urdu, Javed Akhtar had been invited. He has done more for this beautiful language, than the ‘puritans’ who have tried to associate Urdu with a religion.

I firmly support dialogue & have been part of the process. We are a ‘ Salad Bowl’ nation & not a ‘ Melting Pot’.

Over the last decade, many Muslims, Christians and Sikhs have grown deeply suspicious of the executive and judiciary. There is enough evidence of law enforcement agencies favouring Hindus

My Son and I both spoke to students of Thapar Institute of Management, near Chandigarh. If you want to hear my discourse, on reading, I am at 50.5 mins of the recording. Fruitful listening and then reading (hopefully)!
My father, Lt Gen @zoomshah & self had the honour of being the key note speakers at the Prestigious LMTMS.I felt extremely proud of giving my talk with my parents in the audience & more so ever sharing the same platform as my father. https://t.co/VdHsA2UPsU

Army Veteran Mohd Saldeen & his daughter, Dr Scania Saldeen, have become the toast of Kerala, after release of Lt Gen Ahluwalia’s book. I am delighted that his sense of patriotism, commitment to operations, & linking his progeny to the gun tower he drove have been recognised.
Malayala Manorama, 20 Jul article, recounted by Lt Gen Ahluwalia at launch of his book ‘ A General’s Odyssey’, about how a Kerala girl now Dr PK Scania was so named. Her father, Saladin a retired soldier, managed to tow newly acquired Bofors Gun to Arunachal by a Scania tractor

This angst is for those who trolled me. I will only say ‘you have a right to take offence only if you have been under fire, for your country’. If you have been fostering hate from WhatsApp Library comfortably seated on a cushioned chair, think twice. https://t.co/6uGTSG16bU.

Trolling a person and terming him anti-national doesn't make any one a patriot any more than standing in a garage and calling oneself a mechanic or an automobile engineer.

It was the lunatic fringe. And there are some, all over.

I agree with you. My philosophy has been, convey your point without being unduly Abrasive. ‘ Keep your words soft and sweet— you never know when you have to eat them!’
@zoomshah While I am fan of both of you, I like Nasir sahab more because he is abrasively blunt. Just as he should be with his Target. Bleeding them with his blunt talk

This surprises me. Let me check with other alumni of St Anselms.
@zoomshah I studied in St Anslems, they never let us Hindus into church, very secular indeed

I never studied at St Anselms but I am aware there is no bar from non Christians entering the church. There was none in my School, St Joseph’s College, Nainital.
@zoomshah Were you allowed into the Church at St Anslems?

A wonderful article by Naseeruddin Shah. I entirely subscribe to his views. We were, fortunately, insulated from bigotry. I find the same wonderful ethos in my interaction with most Army colleagues. There will always be some who are different because of the anonymity of WhatsApp
