I have finally been able to finish this piece I have been working on for a couple of weeks. It was quite an adventure. I titled this piece LAYERS, a brief story about myself

Its been awhile I worked on poster, and I guess its safe to say I had a creative block recently and my designs for awhile were quite generic and expected. Omo at some point I got tired and felt stuck. But luckily yesterday I had a little spark, and decided to explore abit.

DAY 9: EYE BLINK ANIMATION I narrowly escaped not showing up today cos Nepa did what they know how to do best. But my God doesn't wear flip flop, He had a backup plan for me and here i am still showing up for this motion thing. Well i guess we go again tomorrow. See yaaa

let me explain better. It basically works as a leader and the layers under it are the followers. So when I want to move layers in a particular direction together, I just parent them to the Null object and then boom, you have them under one control. Las las Aftereffects na less😄

DAY 8: BOUNCE TEXT ANIMATION So happy I finally was able to use the null object in Aftereffects today, and if you don't know what that means, well its basically an object that helps control two or more layers during animation so you don't have to repeat the same animation again

DAY 7: MICRO UI ANIMATION So today, I was so tired..to even carry my PC felt like carrying heavy rock. Opened a 12mins tutorial and about 5mins in I was already tired. I just told myself, I am not striving for perfection, I just need to show up and build consistency. So see yaaa

DAY 6: TEXT ANIMATION Mehnn, today I had to push myself really, the workload on me was allot and I almost couldn't meet up with any tutorials. But somehow because I had made this public, I had to just show up. I no fit fall my small fans hand na😄. So yeah we go again tomorrow

DAY 5: SHAPE MORPH ANIMATION Today was crazy, have you tried to follow an Indian Tutor on YouTube before, they no dey calm down talk make you hear😄. Mehnn I watched the tutorial almost 20 times &still didn't get it perfectly. Trust me Its way better in my head than what you see

DAY 4: PENDULUM ANIMATION This has to be the first animation in Aftereffects i got smoothly without much drawback after following the tutorial. When I finished I was like whattt, so I can do this motion graphics thing, if I just give it more time. Well we move !!!!! See yaaaa

I tried and tried but it wasn't working. At some point I just left it at least e be like clock😄. Took it from Aftereffects to Canva to add little sound design, and there you have it. So yeah failed again today, but good thing is I showed up, so see you guys tomorrow.

DAY 3: ROTATION ANIMATION So today was quite interesting especially doing this, at first everything was going smoothly oo, following the tutorial no much complications, omo until I got to animating the clock hands, adjusting the anchor point to perfectly align was difficult

And believe me when I say this 3 seconds was equivalent to almost an hour of trial and error till I got something close to what I had imagined, but either ways I made it happen . Failed again today, but thats the point fail forward till I get better. See you tomorrow.

DAY 2: TEXT REVEAL ANIMATION What other way to experiment this design than my church's logo, the continuous flow of the text just makes it great for use. I watched a few tutorials for this to be possible.

DAY 1: Squash & stretch animation. This is one of the 12 principles of animation. As simple as it looks, I spent over an hour to get it correctly, Aftereffects UI is daunting ehnnn, at some point I was like who send me message. But sha, this is day 1 of failing at motion design.

Glad to announce I will be starting a new series, for the next 30 days, THE FAILED MOTION DESIGNER. Heavily inspired by @akthawicked . I know what you are thinking, but this doesn't have to do with anything negative, its just me sharing my story on learning motion design.

This design is definitely heavenly, I spent over a week brainstorming and one thing I learnt from this experience was ideas actually come from God, sometimes just leave Pinterest and Behance. Ever wondered how designers created before the advent of pinterest?

Its day 8 today and I figured I wasn't so good at lighting in design compositions and so I decided to push myself alittle more today. Definitely had to get a perfect muse @MarcusRashford that suites the story in the poster. One word to describe him is definitely the FLASH.
