I like both, I'll adapt depending on the source material. Not all anime has to be simple, and not all anime has to be detailed. Simple also doesn't mean suddenly making the animation better if it doesn't fulfill other factors.
People overate fluidity way to much, it just doesn’t look good sometimes, especially in Dragon Ball. Characters look goofy and hits feel less impactful. I’ll take strong drawings anyday>>>

I'm not sure if the left frame was drawn by kumiko horikoshi, but she's the only AD in eps 73, but not sure if it's her style maybe someone uncredited ? as for the right frame I'm pretty sure it's her style. #NARUTO

I think the word "ambitious" is too narrow/limited if you only define it for animation. Is animation/direction like Naruto vs Pain the only one that can be called 'ambitious ' ?

It's too early to judge, tybw is a journey not just 1-2 seasons then disappear. I want to see cour 4 first before judging in terms of overall ambition from animation and story.
I personally wouldn't call TYBW ambitious but that's just me.
