ukrainian athlete Yulia Levchenko replied to Maria Lasitskene’s appeal to the ban of russian athletes. “You’re not allowed to compete because you’re russian?!! AND WE ARE KILLED just BECAUSE WE ARE UKRAINIANS!!!!!! Feel the difference?!!!”. really puts thins into perspective
“again, the sea of flags from japan. what can he produce? lying in fifth place. surely a medal is within his grasp, if he can skate anywhere near his top form. yuzuru hanyu, the music: hope and legacy”
“this is not the right place” okay explain to me when is the right place for ukr athletes to express discomfort with their competitors being russian and training in russia while they had to flee their home, training base and their families are under constant threat bc of russia
Ukrainian pair Serova/Khobta refused to congratulate and shake hands with Georgian team Metelkina/Berulava at the Junior Grand Prix in Budapest.
Metelkina and Berulava compete for Georgia, but were born and continue to train in Russia with a Russian coach and possibly still…
thinking about yuna single handedly popularizing figure skating in south korea and inspiring multiple generations of wonderful skaters. 3 skaters in top 10 at the olympics, 3 4cc medalists, 2 skaters in top 10 at worlds and 3 skaters in top 5 at junior worlds just in one season
i don’t know how to put all my feelings in words and actually express how it is like. i just can’t believe that this is actually happening, happening to me, to all the people here. how one person can just decide “to prove a point” and put so many lives in danger
i’ll never get over this. the whole arena became one with this wildly talented 17 year old boy for those 4:30 minutes. on his debut world championships, he delivered a free skate that will truly remain in history.
Do you ever just think how iconic Olympics 2018 were for figure skating? Athletes in TWO disciplines took their second individual gold medals. Last time that happened before was in 1998. Aljona taking her gold on her 5th OG. Alina’s amazing performances. Wow. Just wow.
“Russian athletes didn’t start this conflict & aren’t responsible for its course. Those're two good reasons to let them participate again.” Canadian Richard McLaren head of WADA independent commission

just want to say that fuck isu and fs community for what they did to him in past 4 years. for convincing him that he wasn’t enough, for doubting him, for downplaying his role in the sport. he’s the best thing that has ever happened to them and now i’ll gladly watch the downfall
nothing has been as harmful to this sport as sensationalization of quads and convincing athletes that they’re not worthy without ultra C elements, forcing them to destroy their bodies and being unable to compete by the age of 20 (if you’re lucky). so many talents were crushed-
