Al-Razi mentions in his tafsir that 'Umar (رضي الله عنه) said when receiving the treasures of the king of Persia: . "O God, I seek refuge with You from being led to destruction, for I have heard You say: 'We will lead them gradually [to destruction] from where they do not know.'".

Among those whom We have created there are people who guide with truth and do justice thereby. As for those who reject Our signs, We will lead them gradually (towards their punishment) in a way that they do not know. I give them respite. Surely My plan is firm. (7:181-183).

From the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:. "No man fills a vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat just enough to sustain his back. If he must eat more, then let a third be for his food, a third for his drink, and a third for his breath.".

'Abdullah ibn Tahir said, "I saw in a dream during Ramadan as if a book was lowered from the sky. It was said, 'This book contains the names of the forgiven.'. I searched through it and found:. 'In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful — Yahya ibn Yahya.'".

Abu 'Abdullah al-Marwazi was asked, "Which of the scholars you met followed the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ the most?" He said, "I do not know of anyone except Yahya ibn Yahya.". Ishaq ibn Ibrahim said, "When Yahya ibn Yahya passed away, he was the Imam of the East and West." ↓.

Muhammad ibn Aslam said, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ in a dream and asked, 'From whom should I narrate?' The Prophet ﷺ replied, 'From Yahya ibn Yahya.'". Abu Ahmad al-Farra' said, "Yahya ibn Yahya was an Imam, a role model, and a light of Islam." ↓.

Ishaq ibn Rahwayh once said, "I have not seen anyone like Yahya ibn Yahya, and I do not think he has seen anyone like himself.". Ahmad ibn Hanbal said, "Yahya ibn Yahya never saw anyone like himself, and the people never saw anyone like him." ↓.

The master of hadith, the Shaykh of Islam and renowned scholar of Khurasan, Yahya ibn Yahya ibn Bukayr—may Allah have mercy on him:. Al-Bukhari and Muslim were among the scholars of hadith who narrated from him, and he was known to be extremely cautious with his transmissions. ↓.

Mujahid said, "I do not know which of the two blessings is greater: that Allah guided me to Islam or that He protected me from deviant sects.". It is said that he lived to reach around 83 years old, and that he died in Makkah while in prostration—may Allah be pleased with him.
