At @YahooSports: Wrote a little about the reporting on Michael Porter Jr.'s trade market, the teams that might be interested, why teams *should* be interested, and the question the Nets have to ask themselves over the next few weeks:
sports.yahoo.com
With the NBA trade deadline now just over a month away, there seems to be an increasing level of interest around the league in the availability of, and potential market for, Brooklyn Nets forward...

"In 2026, I look forward to seeing what the league's overreaction to its overreaction is." A pretty fine point to put on how wildly the pendulum seems to swing once something becomes a trending topic.
espn.com
Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst survey the league on the stars, sagas and storylines that will dominate 2026.

Going to say this before I get more then a couple of drinks in: it remains incredible to me that anyone gives a shit about me doing any of this, and is willing to keep hanging around and supporting it. I hope to keep rewarding that. Take care, everyone.
OK: year-end Stuff I'm Proud Of. Well, I kept the job. Decent start! I published ~215 things + 250,000 words in 2025, and I don't think I cheated the reader in the effort I put into them. Pretty good. I had a lot of fun making THE BIG NUMBER with Tom, Emme, Sara, Ryan, et al.

And sometimes, it's the middle of the day in the middle of the week, and you get an assignment that you have to write in like two hours, and you hope for the best. I liked how this one, on Carmelo making the Hall of Fame, turned out:

Melo's HOF résumé includes an NCAA title, three Olympic gold medals and lots and lots of NBA baskets.

This one, about how the Pacers were hunting Jalen Brunson, sticks out in my memory as being a good mix of tape, stats and asking questions:
sports.yahoo.com
The Pacers have carved up the Knicks' defense en route to a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference finals, in large part by targeting New York's star guard.

(OK, I lied about it being enough of that.) Among national folks, I was pretty early on the Rockets offense ( https://t.co/wdYUqAnpYF) and Indiana being for real ( https://t.co/JwiUCNpzeM) I think this thing about how we think about Giannis holds up:
sports.yahoo.com
The Bucks' two-time MVP finds himself in the unenviable position of chasing not only monstrously productive peers, but his own ghost.

OK, that's enough of that. Happy New Year, take care of each other, get in a cab, stay safe, etc., and thanks for reading and listening. If you keep showing up, hopefully they'll keep letting me do it.

I didn't *finish* the Finals, because I came back for my daughter's graduation. That's always been the thing: I do the job the way I do it because I need to be home for them. I'll never be an insider and might only ever climb so high. But I'm there for them every day. Good trade.

I covered more playoff games than ever: on-site through the Knicks run, in Indiana for the ECF, live for most of the Finals. I wrote deadline gamers, off-day analysis, news briefs off pressers, etc. It felt like Doing the Job For Real, if that makes sense. And I wasn't bad at it.
