Luckily neither picture from my place but a little close for comfort. 175km/hr winds are no fun. 230 pivots blown over in the area, word is they wonโt all be fixed until March. Fun times ahead!

55% of the way there. 110 heifer calves in the shed. Weโre getting there. Strange to say but we could do with a drop of rain. #calving25

Loving having a bit of time while the cows are dry to analyse a few excel spreadsheets and milk recording data. That heifer ended up my top heifer by a long shot. 583kg/ms. Looking forward to see how she goes again next year. Calving early August again.๐๐ป
Cold start to the morning -4 with a fog. 50 heifers drafted into a springer mob today. I canโt see them holding to due date on the 18th! Weather has been a dream for wintering stock on kale. One of my favourite heifers keeping an eye on the dog.

7 days grass left. Very happy with how the cows are looking. Been on OAD for 2 weeks and still cruising along at 1.4 ms/day. Been a dream back end. Really looking forward to getting the feet up in June for a couple of weeks.

Final milk recording results in, and itโs 695kgs for the bus. 304 days in milk. 2.28 average per day.
The bus. Top cow on milk recording last week. 3.24 kg of solids on 35L. First cross cow. You just cannot beat them. Herd average 2.25kg on 25L. Heifers doing 1.99kg. Milk pump is busy these days.

The little relief milker I got 14 years ago is starting to come into her own. Costly though.

Irrigation water scarce 2 days on in 21. These turnips are saving our backside. Couple of days left and we will scratch our head and come up with a new plan. Cows humming at 1.9 solids with April around the corner. Goin as well as it can be. $10 milk price makes everything easier

Do you want something bloat oil with that? Bloat oil going in at similar rates to colostrum into calves at the minute. Hope calving is going well at home folks.๐๐ป

Second milk recording done, sheโs slipped back to 3.22kg this time and looks like she will calve the 1st of August. If only I had a full herd of her!

What a difference a week makes. Snow last week, 20 degrees today. Dry cows following the milkers tidying up. You can hear the grass growing. ๐ช๐ป

How is it May already!? Got 10mm of rain. Lovely covers in front of the cows. 29days to dry off and then off to winter grazing! The last quarter has been a lot easier than the first three quarters of this season. On track to do target itโs just cost more in supplement!
