Have you heard climate scientists telling us that the high levels of the Great Lakes are due to global warming? A few years ago they blamed global warming for low lake levels. They sure like to have it both ways.
NEW: Mayor Evans confirms the City of Rochester will be filing a lawsuit against KIA and Hyundai manufacturers for the costs associated with the rash of car thefts.
The suit accuses manufacturers of placing “profits over people and safety.”
My in-laws brought the Rochester newspaper to our home for T-Giving today. Interesting read. Front page story was on the NYC Rockettes. There wasn't one locally sourced news story, but there was another one-sided climate doom article. Is it any wonder why this paper is failing?
Yet another inaccurate, "sky is falling" letter-to-the-editor in the Rochester paper today suggesting the record snows in Buffalo AND the snow drought in Rochester are both due to climate change. Talk about having it both ways. Are there no sane editors left at the paper?
The state of Rochester: A police officer is struck by car stolen by teenagers and the assailants are given appearance tickets. The failure of the political "leaders" in this community and this State to lead is epic and tragic.
Police say Officer Tim Newcombe was hit by a stolen vehicle as he was getting out of his patrol car at Vision Kia early this morning, after receiving reports of a burglary there.
Five suspects, ages 13 to 15, were issued appearance tickets as a result.
@RepJoeMorelle
Please stop already-there is no "climate crisis." Your map does not show temperature, it shows heat index. Yes, Texas is always hot in the summer. Nationally, however, June has been the coolest since 2009. You're adding to the anxiety felt by young people-that's inexcusable.
I would like to wish those who follow me a bright & sunny New Year. I have been blessed this past year on many levels, not the least of which is continuing to work in the profession for which I have such passion, free of clueless tv consultants & station "mis-managers".

Thomas Jefferson was a keen weather observer and in 1776 he continued to track the weather even though he was busy with other matters. In his weather journal he found the time on July 4, 1776 to log a 1 pm temperature in Philadelphia of...76 degrees.

It's called "summer" governor. Nothing we haven't seen before. BTW, we just experienced the coolest June since 2009. Oh, and there is no "climate crisis."

More trash reporting. Meteorological summer is over. All 3 months were COOLER than normal. In May, you claimed it would be hot. You said there'd be 20 90 degree days. There's been 1. Sure, 90 degrees will be within reach this week...but nowhere near records. Advocacy > Journalism

Sir, once again I respectfully ask of you a simple question. (I am a constituent.) Please answer, in specific terms, what legislation you would propose; scientifically how would it change the global weather for the better; and, what would be its cost to tax payers. Thank you.
It's not free. Taxpayers, who of course have to pay for their own healthcare, will apparently now have to pick up the tab to provide healthcare for illegal aliens.
#Unsustainable
.
There is currently not a single hurricane, cyclone, typhoon or tropical storm anywhere on the planet. There's not even a tropical depression or an area under investigation. Wow.
@DandC
30 year "data models." You'll tell us what summer of 2053 will be like, but can't get next week right. Notice a theme w/ these apocalyptic predictions? When you once reported that hottest days in ROC were all before 1954, did that give you pause? Please stop scaring children.
I have come to the conclusion that
@RepJoeMorelle
cannot answer my question; is just regurgitating talking points; and, does not have a serious legislative plan...perhaps because passing a law will not and cannot change the global weather.
@RepJoeMorelle
There you go again. Nonsense. Do you ever answer a constituent's question? I'll ask again, specifically, what legislation would you propose that would change the global weather for the better & what would be it's cost? FYI, extreme wx is not increasing, we're in a climate optimum
@RepJoeMorelle
Please stop. Reverse course? You mean send us into another little ice age? There is no "climate crisis." Why would you think that raising taxes/regulations will change the wx? We're living in a "climate optimum" when historically civilization flourished. Cold kills more than heat

"It's critical we act now." Sir, raising taxes will not change the weather. You speak of "crisis" but never show hard data. Well, here is some data: global deaths due to extreme wx never lower; global crop production soaring; &, predictions of doom utter fail. Stop scaring kids.
When modern journalism meets the current state of climate science. 🤡🤡 (Perhaps in the next study on the fitness of today's children the researchers might examine fast food consumption, time spent playing video games and smart phone usage. Just a thought.)
I'm hearing chatter claiming recent below average winter snowfalls in WNY are due to global warming. Hmmm. When the entire climatological record is examined, the 3 major stations all show an upward trend. Hemispheric snowfall extent is also up. Narrative > science. :(
Right on cue, the local newspaper had another Sunday "letter to the editor" today about the "climate crisis." Perhaps, before the paper folds, it could share good news: global storms down, global wildfires down, global natural disaster deaths down; and, global crop production up.
BTW: Having failed to respond on this platform, I called the congressman's offices in Rochester and D.C. Monday and Tuesday seeking a response to my inquiry. I was told by the D.C. office that someone "might" get back in touch. Really? Well, no one ever did.
@RepJoeMorelle
Sir, about the "climate crisis" you frequently post about "bold action" & "fighting." OK. Can you please explain what that means? What legislation would you submit? How would it improve the global weather? What would be its cost? This constituent says thank you.

How about some good weather/climate news? The Great Barrier Reef defies forecasts & is healthiest on record; integrated global hurricane activity is below average; national tornado #'s are well below normal; &, the acreage consumed by wildfires to date nationally is below normal.

The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere today is comparable to around 4.3 million years ago, when sea level was about 75 ft higher than today, the average temp was 7 degrees F higher than in pre-industrial times, & large forests occupied areas of the Arctic that are now tundra.

, I am a constituent of yours. Your lack of response to my repeated question has me wondering if you aren't really serious about this topic or if the powers above insist on you tweeting their talking points. I'm hoping you'll still answer my question. Thank you.
@RepJoeMorelle
Do you ever respond to constituents? Again, in precise terms, please tell us how you will legislate changing the global weather & how much it will cost. BTW-there is no climate crisis. It is a scam used by activists to dispirit you, to control you & to rob you of life's pleasures
@RepJoeMorelle
There you go again, sir. Can you specifically point to what makes you believe that the weather in Rochester has turned into a crisis? Perhaps I can help. Here are some key Rochester meteorological data points. Please identify when the crisis started. Thank you.

You write about this often, sir. For once could you please explain what "bold action" you plan to take? In precise terms, how will you legislate changing the planet's weather? Thank you. PS: There is no "climate crisis." Predictions of climate doom are a dime a dozen.
"September's sizzling global average temperature ensures that 2023 will be the warmest year on record."
The solution is clear: we need immediate, bold action to reverse the effects of the

and safeguard our planet for future generations.
BTW: This is the departure from normal for summer high temperatures year-to-date. That is 1 degree below normal in Rochester. Nationally, some in the media suggest the country is being scorched. Hmmm. The Carolinas, OH Valley and mountain west disagree.
@DandC
Caution. This is the same group that told us to expect double the normal number of 90 degree days in Rochester this summer (20). Count so far: 1. Perhaps 1 or 2 coming late this week before next cool down. To get to 20 we'd surely have to break August record of 12 set in 1944.

You don't see this very often in the middle of the hurricane season. There is currently not a single tropical storm or hurricane (typhoon, cyclone) anywhere on the planet.
It began just after 5 pm, March 3, 1991. The Rochester ice storm became the mostly costly natural disaster in NYS (surpassed since). 17+ hours of freezing rain...up to 1.5 inches thick. Horrific tree damages and power losses of up to 2 weeks in length.

Greetings. "...asks if climate change is an influencer." Hmmm. Please let me help. It was the coolest summer in Rochester since 2015. All three summer months were cooler than normal during which time there was only one 90 degree day. I hope this information helps. Best wishes.
If you type in "Kia Boys" on Google, Rochester is on the suggested search list.
Episode 3 of the City on Fire podcast explores what's driving this phenomenon and asks if climate change is an influencer.
@RepJoeMorelle
Sure...try to be good stewards of the planet, but...once again, there is no "climate crisis." Also, raising taxes and fees will not change the weather.
@DandC
"Hottest in the history of the planet"-you mean since 1979. Back "in the old days" no 100's. See 1936. Conflating temp (real) & heat index (made up). Remove urban heating (Ithaca) FLX are cooling. From your paper, here are Rochester's all-time highs (Steve Orr)-all prior to 1954.
For those traveling this holiday season in electrics cars, this reminder from AAA: "...research shows that when the temp drops to 20 degrees & the HVAC system is used to heat the inside of the vehicle, the average driving range in electric vehicles is decreased by 41 percent."
