ā€œWe need to protect our women and children from immigrants!ā€ shouts bloke who sparks out his missus if she gets too cocky and sexually harasses young girls from the window of his Ford Transit.

I’m not the type of person to hold a grudge and am always willing to forgive if someone is willing to apologise, so I’ll give Start Rescue another chance and stay with them at my renewal next month. And I will also be banning locking wheel nuts from all of my vehicles.

Update: A big thanks to Steve from @startrescuecouk for looking into this and apologising for the way it was handled. I also had a bit of a chuckle at this part about offering compensation. I’ve banished the locking wheel nuts forever but the Ā£50 can go towards the wheel refurb!

My positive experience with @startrescuecouk with this has been soured with them now telling me I technically wasn’t covered because I ā€˜didn’t have a locking wheel nut key available’, and I should have been charged for the recovery. The key snapped, what more could I do?!.

I’ve been told the only reason I wasn’t charged is because the operator handling my breakdown didn’t pass the information my key had snapped, otherwise it would’ve cost me over Ā£400 to get home. Absolutely ridiculous policy and such a huge shame after I sang their praises.

My last day in the Lakes and I thought I’d give Hardknott Pass a go. Never done it before, and I thought it’d be a good test for the A4. The good news is, the A4 nailed it and was like a mountain goat. The bad news is, I didn’t see a pothole on the way down and made a BIG booboo.

Seems I’ve built a reputation for finding people who want to buy weird cars, a colleague has asked me to advertise his MG TF for him. 69k miles, MOT till March ā€˜25, just needs the control valve for the heater replacing but he no longer has time. Ā£1100 OVNO. DM for more pics/info!

Like come on, they can’t even spell WhatsApp. At least that’s what I think they’re trying to say. It’s very much ā€œBames Nond’s having a stronk, call a Bondulanceā€. Please add me on wsatsaoo. My wsatsapp number. My wsatsooa. The wappstat. The wibblewobble. The-

No bites on the Abarth so far besides a blatant scammer this morning, so I’ve stopped being a tight arse and paid for AutoTrader. Please feel free to share!

In the past 2 weeks: failed miserably at making progress on the Lomax, George’s N/S front caliper seized and they’re NLA, took the wheels off my parents’ car for refurb as a surprise and the refurb place never even started them, bent the A4’s wheel in the Lakes, and now this…

I’m not sure which entity I’ve angered in these last two weeks, but the Caddy I borrowed from work to replace my three-wheeled A4 has now decided it no longer wants its engine oil. Oh, and I stepped in dog shit right after this too (thankfully didn’t lay in it - I don’t think)

Sadly their taxi back from Manchester isn’t quite as glamorous (A4 is still awaiting a new wheel so work very kindly let me borrow this)

My parents fly home from their holiday in Gran Canaria today, and just sent me a photo of possibly one of the coolest taxis ever that took them to the airport. I love seeing cars like this still working. Private hire only so no livery, but still fully licensed.

The A4 hasn’t been named yet as I’ve not really been able to decide on anything, but one name that’s been chucked around before is George Jr. I think after today it definitely deserves that title. Like father like son. 🄹

Slight miscommunications aside the service from @startrescuecouk was fantastic, contractors were dispatched immediately and I was kept up to date with how long they’d be, and when I was dropped at Lancaster services the next truck pulled in behind before we’d even unloaded.

After some slight miscommunications in places, namely the first guy not being told about the locking wheel nut key and a strange phone call telling me I wasn’t covered for nationwide recovery when I definitely was, I was eventually lifted and relayed home, tail between my legs.

With zero phone signal and still half a mountain to descend, I decided to limp very slowly with my very sad and deflated wheel, until I found a main road with a layby so I could call @startrescuecouk. The rim and tyre were already knackered by this point so I had little to lose.

No biggie, I thought, I’ll just whip the Wheel of Shame on and have a leisurely 50mph drive home on the M6. But the big booboo got even bigger when the locking wheel nut key snapped. Thank you previous owner’s garage for overtightening wheel bolts very cool šŸ‘šŸ»

Pretty incredible to see the real Bluebird at the Ruskin Museum today. 23 years after she was pulled from the lake, in March of this year she was finally brought back to Coniston (restored, of course). It was certainly a long time coming!

Time to give this ā€˜holiday’ thing a go. The rules for the campsite state no car repairs allowed, so that’s my plans out the window. Guess I’ll have to, I don’t know, relax or something? šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«. (This was last night, the weather is NOT like this today…)
