The library has extended hours this week to help support your finals studying needs–including Saturday hours. Also remember the Writing & Research Center ( https://t.co/byTbtFQ3mX), on the first floor of Hamersly is your one-stop shop for help with those final papers. Good luck!

Today is Giving Tuesday, and as the season turns from one of gratitude into the season of giving, I hope you will consider making a gift to Abby’s House to meet the basic needs of our students and community members. Give here: https://t.co/meueSyAw1n

Don’t forget this Wed, Dec 3rd, drop off unwrapped gifts for youth in foster care. Stop in the cafe area of Hamersly Library from 11am-12pm to drop off your gifts, get a warm drink, a sugary treat, and, if you’d like, a selfie with Santa. #woulibrary #howlaboutit

Visit a display of his books from our Archive and pick up an envelope to design for a contest hosted by The Edward Gorey House. More info in a very well lit corner of the third floor atrium. #woulibrary #howlaboutit

In the dark recesses and quiet corners of the Hamersly Library, the spooky spirit of the fall season lives on. Ok, that’s a bit dramatic, but it IS an Edward Gorey exhibit. Gorey, an illustrator and author, was known for his dark humor, precise hatching, and absurd storytelling.

Framed by a campus group, this fragile piece shows significant signs of aging with mold, tears, and creases, so can only be appreciated digitally at this time. Thank goodness for the WOU Archives for digitizing and preserving special pieces of our history like this one! #TBT

This week's #ThrowbackThursday is a great example: an antiphonary gifted to the Library in 1984 from music professor A. Laurence Lyon. The painted vellum page is from a 12th century choral book and is believed to be from Seville, Spain.

The WOU Archive works to preserve the history of the university, representing the nearly 170 years of college business, daily student life, and monumental moments. It is also home to unique pieces donated by faculty and community members.

#ThrowbackThursday to the various nameplates for our student newspaper! From 1923 when student voices were first amplified by a student newspaper to this year when, for the first time, news articles are being translated into Spanish and shared on the Western Howl website (1/3)
