This @Ed_Rants Letter to Grime definitely speaks volumes and should stay on a Madara wave. We have been very successful in pioneering new sounds but we become way too complacent once a sound sticks. This message applies to all genres in the UK but Grime is the biggest culprit.
The UK music scene seems to thrive off genres whereas the US scene appears to thrive of artistry. Over here I hear people say “That’s not Grime it’s not 140bpm” “oh that’s Drill” “he’s UK rap” etc. Hip Hop has evolved wayyyy more than sampling and boom bap.
