Don't torture yourself by trying to figure out a complicated app if it doesn't resonate yet. Learn something simpler then level up if you want or if your needs expand past what that app can offer you.

Those are just some of the features I look for in an app/software, but the key is to always go with an app that speaks to the goals you plan to accomplish and how much you're willing to learn in order to use it effectively.

Gone are the days of thumb drives - hallelu - but the sharing feature needs to be reliable + helpful bc ease is the goal, always. It's a bonus when you can connect your "cloud" to the app. Google Drive + Canva or Adobe Spark are super clutch for transferring or uploading files.

Thanks to cloud syncing (hello feature #1), it is a clean + timely update and my details are never lost in the sauce. #3 - Sharing Being able to share assets or files between other apps or users is a vital feature for apps I use, whether it's for personal reasons or client work.

#2 - Handoff Handoff is a requirement bc I would hate to have to stay on one device from start to finish of a task or an entire project. With GoodNotes, I can toggle between my iPad to edit using my Pencil and my phone later at night to review what I worked on earlier.

#1 - The Cloud Anything I use in the year 2021 HAS to be accessible via the cloud. I have multiple devices + need the experience to be as identical as possible across all of them. The cloud saves me money + space on hard drives, and it gives me the freedom to be more organized.

Naturally, this can lead to overstimulation or apps collecting dust - and taking up precious digital space wherever they're stored. I've gotten better now and have my old faithfuls; here are some of the features that I look for in an app or software to make my life easier.

Shiny Object Syndrome is a real ass thing; I know because I battle with it myself. I'm a sucker for great UI + pretty typography so when I see pretty colors AND functional features that apply to what I do or want to do, I'm signing up.
