- other symphonic recs include all of Brahms' symphonies, which i am obligated to recommend because:.1. they're incredibly fire (he was a perfectionist and only made four later in his life and all four are amazing).2. German symphonic sound.3. Faker and him have the same bday!.

- as an aside, when i read this piece for the first time i got so lost from all the repeats LOL.- also check out Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica," which is another darling of the classical world and sometimes thought of as the "first" Romantic-Era Symphony.

- something to note is that he composed this symphony during his stay in Heiligenstadt, where he wrote his "Heiligenstadt Testament" letter.- in this letter, he talks about his increasing deafness, its possible incurability, and his thoughts of ending his life from it.

- this symphony, one of his more "academic" works, is from the end of his Early Period (his earlier works that fit in the Classical Era style), but is incredibly dynamic and hints towards his later impact.- ex: mvmt 3 is a scherzo instead of the typical minuet-trio of the time.
