The men’s cross country team claimed the NCAA Division II title on Saturday, besting 2022 champion Colorado School of Mines 70-79 in Joplin, Mo. Wingate had 5 runners claim spots on the All-American team. The women’s team also had a big day, placing eighth.
Congrats to Isaac Yeboah Aning who wins the A.F. Hendricks Award for the man of the graduating class who represents the ideals of scholarship, leadership and service. 🐶🏆

It is with great sadness that the Wingate University family has learned that Keith Cannon passed away Monday evening.
Our hearts go out to Jayne and the family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Wingate University Athletics announced Monday that it has received a $2 million gift from Andrew (’01) and Julie Smart that will significantly advance fundraising for a student-athlete training and development facility.

The Wingate community mourns the loss of Ann Deese. An employee of the University for 31 years, Deese passed away on Saturday, July 11, from complications related to Covid-19. Deese most recently worked as a user-support specialist in the computer center.
Dr. Sylvia Little-Sweat was recognized yesterday for her 55 years of service. Yes 55. It is not a typo. 😱😱😱

Update on lockdown:
Wingate Police report suspect armed with a long gun. Police description: black male, blue and black windbreaker, brown Timberland boots. Law enforcement is posted on campus. Suspect last seen on Jerome Street, south of US 74 across from campus entrance.
While local law enforcement remains on campus, they have advised the University to lift the campuswide lockdown. The University resumes normal operations immediately. We will provide updates as they become available.
