Thanks to @abcnews, Scout Wallen and @jasminehines_ for shining a light on @OneTreeIslandRS. 50 years of outstanding research with @Sydney_Uni but it’s been a tough one for the reef. @Sydney_Science @BellaMarrable

Scientists return to One Tree Island on the Great Barrier Reef to assess the extent of last summer's coral bleaching event — and there's some hope amid the devastation.

Our little slice of heaven on the Southern GBR has been hit hard this year (bleaching like much of the reef) by elevated ocean temperatures. Be back in 2 weeks...hoping to see some recovery. 🤞@OneTreeIslandRS @Sydney_Uni @Sydney_Science @USydMSI

HUGE effort from @katie_erick to inform us on how to most efficiently get fish assemblage data out of our unbaited oyster reef videos. A lot of advantages to using MeanCount in these situations! https://t.co/KPBhTBp1Y3

Beautiful day at Coral Gardens off Manly…but we weren’t alone. A “smack” of moon jellies joined in the fun. Appropriate term as that’s also the noise they make when the swell pushes them against your wetsuit. @USydMSI @Sydney_Science @SydneyMarine

Here's a fun lockdown project. Needed to know the volume of my pool to size a new pump appropriately...so I 3D-modelled it! #lockdownscience. And yes its quite dirty...did that on purpose to help with model alignment! 😀
