3️⃣Some work functions are hard + capex heavy to do with robotics. Look to automate small/ ancillary parts of the workflow to work towards the point that one worker can manage multiple machines This should come with additional training and a nice pay bump

2️⃣Scheduling algorithms are great on paper, but its better to compliment existing schedule workflows rather than fully automate They have seen tons of fully algorithmic scheduling systems be absolutely HATED by production teams. Understand where the fine line is here

Solution is to have the doctor make the call first, and flag or double check with ai. Follow the same process for quoting and engineering document review in a manufacturing environment

1️⃣ Research on ai medical imaging shows that if the ai recommends an answer first, a doctor will typically ignore their own instincts and default to the ai’s answer

Back to the bright side; manufacturing problems are solvable and there are many low hanging fruit for improvement A lot of wind to our backs too: M&A opportunities, digital transformation, & hardtech startups forming the industrial base of tomorrow
Factories being complex is what makes manufacturing fun but good lord is the random complexity exhausting some days

We are SO early in the hardtech VC cycle and we cant wait for them to change. Id recommend finding funding here: Family offices built on wealth from your industry Small PE funds with exposure to your vertical Corporate venture divisions Late career industry vets in an SPV
The truth is, America is falling behind. Investors pour money into flashy AI projects and trendy space ventures instead of supporting founders building infrastructure that supports basic necessities. Despite unparalleled leaps in technology, neglecting the foundational needs

Check out last weeks snapshot here:
Wondering what's going on with the steel industry? Well here is your SUNDAY. STEEL. MARKET. SNAPSHOT. TLDR; Emissions based duties on the way, prices expected to rise, gov shutdown, Canadian dumpster fire continues. The EU is fully rolling out carbon border adjustment

UK scraps a planned innovation grant competition for steel, prioritizing bailouts of loss making plants instead. The prior £2.5B support pledge stands, but faces a backdrop of high energy costs, EU 50% tariff risk, and multiple state supported sites
