Today Essex bids farewell to Southend's wild man of the ol' Joanna, John Denton, who died last month. John's daughter sent us this pic* of John with Wilko, who remained friends with JD since the Solid Senders days, &acknowledged his brilliance in 'Don't You Leave Me Here'. RIP JD

Jonathan Maitland's play about Wilko has been in the works for a few years now - with Wilko's direct involvement - so it is a real pleasure to be able to share news of its upcoming run at the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch:

We are sad to hear of the passing of Japanese rock 'n' roll guitarist Makoto Ayukawa, who, with his partner Sheena (Sheena And The Rokkets), was a great pal of Wilko's. They would always play onstage together when Wilko and the band were in Japan. As our good friend Taisuke (1/3).
