Nowadays, college has gotten closer to Pro Sports where schools like Texas, Texas AM, Oregon, etc have VASTLY more resources and money than teams they play NEXT SEASON on their schedule, in their same conference.

4. Level Playing Fields: In pro sports, some larger franchises benefit from having a large mktcap, fan base, city, etc. Historically that was never the case with college football. No $, no sponsors, etc. While not completely even, most Power 5 schools have had the same resources.

3. Transfer Portal: Outside of recruiting loyalties, you now have to constantly manage players like a GM does in the offseason. It makes it harder to follow teams as a fan and can cause disinterest in the “core” of a team.

2. Post Season: Historically 2-4 teams make the national postseason and that felt as though EVERY game was significant and 1 loss ruined your entire season. Now there are 12-16 teams in the postseason which allows you to lose 2-3 games, making certain games less meaningful.

Things that I personally think made college football better than the NFL, but no longer exist, a 🧵: . 1. Recruiting: Players used to pick you without financial bribery so it felt as though they were choosing the same school you chose as a fan. Now it’s hard to tell via 💵💵💵.
