It's hard to believe but not hard to explain. Superman and Batman were box office mega franchises. And the studios took the lesson from this that, not that people wanted comic book movies, but, since both were created in the 30s, that's the pop culture to mine for ideas.

My brother Matt, my little brother..passed away at 8:47 this morning. He was suffering from cancer, these last 5 months, he fought hard, but cancer won. At least he’s at peace now, no more pain.
