Story time.
2009. I was 23. I was one of the first documented cases of H1N1 Influenza (aka “Swine Flu”) in WI.
I worked out 5x per week. Played ultimate 5-7x per week. At healthy. Have no immune disorders. Healthy blood pressure. Everything.
I spent 5 days in the hospital.

Yet, every time it pops up incorrect and I correct someone, the first assumption is, "Oh, did you get married?" When I say, I got divorced, I get super judged.

2017, age 30, I came back from an ACL tear to play on the Beach Masters Women’s team
I get to play for Team USA almost 2 years after I tried out, hoping to get an invite for Masters, and making the Women’s team instead.

This little darling is the light of my life. Meet Lilly. She is a 3-4 year old dachshund/lab mix.
She had to get spayed yesterday and is on a medication I was on after my surgery. Paul told us that we are pelvic pals. It’s a match for the ages, y’all.

I thank the College Working Group and Staff for seeing that there was an issue, and coming together late on Wednesday night to get a solution. They are absolute rockstars who will be spending many hours before regionals re-verifying rosters for registrar certifications & vaccines

This is a huge part of why I made the decision that I did. It felt very powerful to show a rather large crowd of young girls in my city what it means to be part of the community of female athletes. I didn’t know that existed when I was a kid. I know now and am so grateful.
One of the girls that sat with us said "these are all her friends!? She has a lot of friends!" and it felt so cool to be showing those kids what our community of female athletes looks like.

Does anyone with kids have stuffed animals or other toys that use they/them pronouns? It seems like a simple way to talk about and practice pronouns. If a stuffed lion that one loves a lot can exist outside the gender binary, it might be easier to see humans can too.

I disagree with one thing: the US isn’t good at ultimate because institutional support. It is a sports culture where training as a regular person, let alone world class athlete, is accessible and promoted in a way I don’t think it is in other places.
