I still think Twitter remains the best source of breaking news, but I don't think I've ever been that great a fit for the medium (as seen in my follower account😂), so I'm moving most of my posts to Substack. 1/2

The appeal of identifying a great naval battle fought in 485 BC in the Yellow Sea is understandable. If it occurred, it would predate the Battle of Salamis, which is often viewed as the first great naval engagement in the Western pantheon. But the evidence does not support this.

There's probably somewhere a clearer scan of this, but it's almost epic how poor the quality of this scan of the Yale Report of 1828 on liberal education is:

I made this 2017 Ohtani vs. 2025 Murakami comparison in my video last month to show that the swing-and-miss isn't inherently a death sentence. Ohtani also had worse numbers against 93+ mph in a very small sample. Simply put, Murakami is a better hitter now than Ohtani ever was

This is a case where protection actually does matter. There's zero chance he wasn't thinking about Shohei Ohtani on deck.

Amazing how many academics at elite universities want to tell us, now, that in their hearts they were always anti-woke

I’m a military historian, and war’s chaotic and irrational nature pops the intellectual balloon of all these fancy Enlightenment schools of historical sociology, of which Marxism is only one example.

"In almost every field, when you look at what the Marxist or Marxisant or “radical” historians have done, what they have been or are debating, it’s often incomparably richer and more commanding than the liberal historiography." https://t.co/wNI7PDLZZ9

Didn’t Larry Summers, the Harvard Pres hated by cons for being a Clinton stooge and lefties for being “neoliberal”, also raise concerns about grade inflation? Plus Mansfield (the token right winger and scholar of Machiavelli) criticizing it. The whole business is hilarious.

Glad to see all you folks with nice home libraries. I have an office owned by my employer who I do not think wants it to be photographed for Twitter, although it is filled with my own books. Maybe 700-800 volumes?
