4/ When it comes to migration, EU policy documents often overlook the specific needs of smaller localities. It is essential to start a debate on the connection between rural development and migrant integration!.

3/ Migration plays a significant role in the agricultural workforce, but is underrecognized in EU policies. The Whole-COMM strategy paper makes a plea for a strategic reorientation of EU Vision on Rural Areas. 👉

2/ Our Final Policy Brief identifies 6 factors that hinder effective integration policies in small towns and rural areas, and provides 7 actionable recommendations to overcome these challenges. 👉

1/ How can we enhance migrant integration in small towns and rural areas? How can local, national, and European stakeholders and policymakers turn migration into an opportunity for stronger rural areas?.📢 Our final recommendations are out!.

4/ "The role of political orientation and the politicization at the local level is one of the key overarching findings of the project". This finding was notable despite initial expectations of a more pragmatic local approach. @AndreaPettrach @CollegioCA

3/ Abigail Fisher Williamson pointed out that in the US, small towns tend to be less segregated than larger cities due to more frequent points of interaction. Shared spaces like schools and youth centers are vital for fostering contact among different groups.

2/ What can we do to improve social cohesion in smaller communities?.@BirgitGlorius emphasized the essential need for a whole community approach. "We must support existing structures and focus on the education system where students and parents from different backgrounds meet"
