The unglamorous and time consuming part of design systems work: aligning legacy product/code to the system so that updates matter.
The other important part of this story is that the Polaris team shipped this very fast— in 10 weeks. That was only possible because we spent a year getting the admin to 90% mainline coverage.

Leadership lesson for today: When you delegate decision authority, the worst thing you can do is override their decision(s) without consultation. Change is a natural part of learning, so decisions change. Just be sure to drive it back thru the team who made the original decision.

In parenting, there's a clear difference between those who balance the parent-as-a-customer and the child-as-a-user and those who don't. As with #EnterpriseUX, parents will put up with a poor experience for a bit if your kid is having a good time, but everyone has their limit.

Today is the first day since 2003(?) that I used a Microsoft browser on an Apple computer. (BingAI/Chat is only available in Edge, it seems) I feel triggered, amused, and curious.

Today’s mass shooting at the Allen Outlet Mall hits too close to home (again). We used to live and shop there. This is not a one-in-a-million situation. America - specifically Texas (which has now had 3 such events in 1 month) - is sick with a wound that festers and never heals.

Last night, I explained GenAI to my mom. Her perception had already been jaded by media-driven FUD without ever having used a GAI-driven experience. We have a lot of work to do. The bad news bears are out there defining this tech before people ever actually experience it.

It’s 2023 and your marketing email copy hoping I am “well in these challenging times” probably needs an update.

At today's haircut, I was surprised that my barber's mom advised her to take her $ out of banks. We talked about FDIC. She said mom's reaction was a "hispanic thing." Reminded me how bad news gets out of hand but also how people from different backgrounds process it v differently
