Nobel Prize to Sakaguchi for Tregs. So well deserved! In Japan for ISNI and we both spoke at a symposium. He now works on oral tolerance to induce Tregs which I worked on for many years. Had dinner together the night before he won the Nobel Prize. Nasal anti-CD3 induces Tregs.

NPR story on 1st AD pt. Rx w/nasal foralumab https://t.co/laTsQO4Eay Moderate AD- not eligible for lecanemab. Expanded access Rx. Tolerating it well. To begin controlled trial at BWH in mild AD. Lost my mom to AD who asked “Howie, can you help me?” I couldn’t then, but could now.

Posted study of nasal foralumab in progressive MS (PIRA) on MedRxiv: https://t.co/mdycrwalTH. Decade of work from animals to people. Results beyond expectations & no toxicity! Multi-center placebo trial underway. PIRA is major challenge for MS and we may have a treatment.

Alzforum highlighted my ADPD talk in “Therapies to Tame T cells in the Brain.” https://t.co/rBPjFzgOLm. Showed Tarun Singhal’s reduction in microglial PET after nasal foralumab in AD pt & referred to Saef Izzy, Leah Beauchamp & Vik Khurana from MGB all working on nasal anti-CD3.

Led by Vijay Kuchroo and Oleg Butovsky, our group just published a paper in Nature showing treatment of Alzheimer’s disease by TIM-3 mediated regulation of microglia: https://t.co/argrs8068p. Immunology plays a major role in AD over and above anti-amyloid therapy. Very exciting!

In unique MS cohort, found gut microbiota and metabolites link to MS progression https://t.co/WEiXLyWhIs. SCFA-producing microbes, beneficial. Alistipes, detrimental. Fecal metabolites link to progression. Gut is important in MS progression. First published on microbiome in 2016.

ADPD talk in Vienna “Induction of Aβ clearing monocytes by nasal Protollin and of Tregs to dampen microglial activation by nasal foralumab in AD and PD pts”. Showed monocyte transcriptome and decrease in microglial activation by TSPO-PET in 1st AD pt Rx with nasal foralumab.

In Vienna for AD/PD meeting. My family fled Vienna in 1939 just before Hitler. My grandfather had a big department store in the center of Vienna. He always wanted his grandson to be a doctor. Almost 100 years later I stood in front of his store to honor him and everyone we lost.

MS Meeting in Palm Beach with Jack Antel from Montreal. We go back 50 years as fellows at Mass General. He was honored and gave keynote lecture. He spoke of my MS cyclophosphamide studies in 1980 that were harshly criticized by Canadians (Ebers and Noseworthy) but ended up right.

Published in Nat Rev Neurol on common immune mechanisms in neurologic diseases. Link: https://t.co/e6Bvw5fWLm Makes possible common therapy for multiple diseases (MS, AD, ALS & PD) as we are doing with nasal anti-CD3. Was sole author & took year to write. Immunology is so cool.

Treated first Alzheimer’s patient with nasal anti-CD3 (Foralumab) to dampen microglial activation. Very exciting! Has moderate AD - doesn’t qualify for anti-amyloid Rx. Next month we treat mild AD. Touching piece on TV. Here’s a link: https://t.co/7OWEI60I1P Hope we can help him!

Received the GIANTS OF MS AWARD in Research, a lifetime achievement award. Hard to believe the years have passed, but still going strong with exciting work on nasal anti-CD3 for progressive MS, MS immunology and the microbiome. Here’s a link to my remarks:

Spoke at Lisbon ADPD “Nasal Immunotherapy of monocyte-microglial axis to treat AD” Here’s link https://t.co/XURud8YEt8. Nasal Protollin modulates AD monocytes. Nasal Foralumab (anti-CD3) modulates microglia, treats AD/PD models and ARIA. Foralumab AD trial planned. Very exciting!

I wrote a love song ISLAND OF TIME 20 years ago. “Life’s confusing, crazy at its best; how I love you and need a place to rest” - a universal yearning. Here’s the link to my music video https://t.co/wPIOw8uEe5. Hope you like it and can escape with your love to an island of time.

Hollywood Trip. Neurology Grand Rounds at Cedars Sinai on “Immune Mechanisms in Neurologic Diseases.” At movie studio for my next film, LOVE KILLS, a medical thriller. Script done. I will direct. Looking for lead actor. At Cedars I was asked Nobel Prize or an Oscar? I said BOTH.
