Happily overwhelmed by the response to this! Addendum: am also looking for a very special type of mid-career researcher, more below: - Opportunity to stretch and grow as a leader, a team-builder, and a setter of research direction - Again, ample technical and personal

I am specifically looking for a talented early career researcher (or engineer looking to break into research)! - Fast ramp-up to work on frontier capability evaluation at pre-training & post-training stages - Abundant technical mentorship and exposure to major model labs -

Pretty cool article by semianalysis on the state of things at meta. Changing the MoE routing technique and data source in the middle of ~$1e8 run was particularly ballsy (and also a mistake apparently, but well). https://t.co/EKBO1onXQD

Deep learning training is a mathematical dumpster fire. But it turns out that if you *fix* the math, everything kinda just works…fp8 training, hyperparameter transfer, training stability, and more. [1/n]

Really interesting to see the irrational panic / lack of critical thinking caused by DeepSeek spread like wildfire, even among ML folks.

A brief announcement and then a personal update — @alpacaml is joining @getcaptionsapp! @wbuchw and I were so impressed everything @gmharhar and @dwightchurchill have accomplished so far and could not be more excited about their push into research. William is one of those rare

Next version of our Chroma model is looking pretty spicy in terms of respecting user intent 👨‍🍳 Still training so hopefully will get even better.

We just shipped layers in @alpacaml Chroma. Wish we had them sooner because boy does everything feel nicer with layers.

That's where the Generation Mask feature excels: strong understanding of user intent, non-destructive iterating (key for blending AI with digital art tools), and seamless blending with the static parts of the image. Give it a try and share your thoughts!

Iterating with most other tools leads to frustration: Either they rely on prompt-only inpainting, cause unintended changes to other parts of the image with each edit (never ending game of whack-a-mole), or struggle to blend edits seamlessly, resulting in poor quality.

Current image genAI tools treat humans as curators not as creators. We want to build tools that put humans at the center: Models that deeply understand user's intent and allow them to make the creative choices. This is a big step in that direction.
