I’ve never held the same job title twice.
In fact, I’ve switched career paths 5 times, all before 30
I started off in frontend development, then transitioned to consulting, moved on to business operations, switched to strategy/business transformation, and now in partnerships.

In 2017, I almost turned down a fulltime scholarship because I wanted to go to Stanford.
Well, Stanford declined🤭
So I accepted the scholarship - went to business school in Greece and enjoyed myself. My tuition was free, living expenses provided, accomodation fully paid for.
€2.5 Million? We raised it! 🚀🎉
This milestone not only celebrates our incredible journey so far, but also opens a new chapter in our mission to power the open talent economy.

7 months in, and I just remembered this website bae and I made for our wedding. I started with a prototype on Wix, baba looked at it one day, added finishing touches to make the final version. We had fun creating this☺️
I did a thing!
Took me 3+ months of thinking & designing cos I wanted to include my speaking & writing portfolio, but I figured it was best to start with career coaching.
Here’s v1.0🎉🎉. If you know anyone looking to switch careers, pls share my site🚀

’s IWD event yesterday was a full circle moment for me.
7 years ago, I was at the 2017
@WomenTechmakers
Lagos event (pic on the right). I was still at PwC as a tech consultant and wondering where everything would lead.
Time really does fly.
#IWDAjah2024
It has taken years to become comfortable in being a generalist and figuring out the best ways to use my skills.
But I’d be lying if I said going through a career transition is a walk in the park. Work and life are intertwined, and it’s important to be our best selves at both.
😱😱It’s happening to me
I raised an idea, twas shut down. Someone else (a guy) repeats the exact same thing and everyone is like yeah, yeah.
Called this one out
Let it sink in
Readjusted my tone of voice (this is how, not I suggest). Got everyone to agree
We’ll go again😤
Incredibly honored to be part of the impactful work we do
@WithPropel
supporting the growth of tech communities and making opportunities (jobs, benefits and finance) accessible to African techies.
At first, the transitions confused me, but I have come to embrace my journey. Each career switch has brought me closer to professional fulfillment.
Before settling on my current role, I declined offers with 2 companies because it just wasn’t where I saw myself.
When I clocked 30 last year, I decided to help others find clarity in their job transition process (having done it 5 times).
I set up 30 coaching slots that got filled up in less than two months, and worked one-one-one with each person to provide guidance. Twas so fulfilling
This was me at
@nocodesummit
last year. I was invited to speak and my husband had to be somewhere else as well.
A volunteer (Onyinye) held my son, he slept through my talk. It was truly the most heart-warming thing.
Now I’m mindful about looking out for childcare at events.
I'm a mom to an 11 month old
And for several reasons, I don't have childcare
A few weeks ago I was invited to be on a panel at the EvrythingAfrica Summit
My husband was supposed to watch the baby, but he ended up having to work
I could have cancelled
But I took my daughter…
When I was transitioning careers, one of the hardest things was figuring out if I could do the work at my next desired role (cue in imposter syndrome, fear, uncertainty).
Over time, I finally figured out that it’s totally possible to pivot meaningfully.
So I created a guide
OMG! I just googled a publication I co-authored (in 2012, my final year project actually) and I’m crying at the detail and sheer thought of the work I put in as a 20 year old.
Never doubting myself again💪🏼

Thinking about the gender gap in leadership roles in tech & other STEM fields.
For me, it’s not enough to get more girls/women into tech, it’s actually about helping more women stay in.
How do we fill leadership roles & close the gender gap if more women don’t stay in STEM?
One thing I love about my recent self is how open I am to taking feedback from others (older/younger, expert/novice, popular/unpopular)
It’s helped me get a richer perspective on a number of things.
As a second-year associate at PwC, I stood up to a manager to negotiate better hours.
Then in 2018, as a first-time manager, I discovered I was a poor listener, leading to conflicts at work.
Check out my recent article
@elpha
on managing workplace conflicts

“I don’t know what I’m doing with my life/career.”
That was me in 2015.
Convinced that my life was in shambles, I was wailing and sobbing in a meeting room to my new manager (Femi). I had recently transitioned from Audit to Advisory in a Big 4 firm and I was struggling.
Five jobs I’ve had
- Partnerships Director
- Strategy & Bus. Transformation Lead
- General Operations Manager
- Senior Associate Consultant
- HTML Developer
So apt!
Love the emphasis on community.
Being part of a community is one quick way to accelerate your career. The connections, exposure, inspiration is everything ☺️
Tech skills are in high demand and tech companies are actively hiring.
Three questions for you today:
1. Are you learning the right skills?
2. Are you connecting with the right people and are you part of communities?
3. Are you sharing your journey publicly?
Celebrating my first work anniversary
@WithPropel
Been quite the journey.
