Today I have been a Californian for 50 years !!! I drove from New Jersey in my VW bug and arrived in Costa Mesa ,California on Halloween 1974. I had a very crazy first night and the story is told in the book that has been written about me.

Last night in Austin. Mr. Michael Delaney , The creator of Delaney guitars, and two great guitar players -- Sue Foley and Alastair Greene , came to the show. We had a wonderful time in Austin ,Texas!

10 years ago today. I arrived back in California after months in the hospital in Omaha. I had received my new liver, and spent months in various therapies before I was ready to go home. This is the day I began the long , arduous task of completely relearning the guitar again.

Every night I play this song in Memory of mister John Mayall. My mentor, my dear friend, my teacher, my musical father. Here is a video someone took when we played at Jimmy's Jazz and blue's club in Portsmouth New Hampshire last week . RIP-John Mayall.

I would play and wonder if I should stop. He would get up in my ear and say " GO, GO " ! He pushed me to my limits on this song and it's something I remain very proud of. It is an awesome memory for me of that day in the studio with the incredible genius - John Mayall.

Of all the music I recorded with him this song is my favorite. We did it live in the studio. I wasn't sure how long I should play the solo. John was playing an electric 12 string and standing next to me. (2 of 3).

I cannot stop thinking and having memories of my almost 6 years with John Mayall. I made 3 albums with him. In 1988 I had been sober for a few months and we went into the studio up high in the German Alps. (1 of 3).
