The Beacons of Gondor scene from the Lord of the Rings is somewhat reminiscent, including the music (a build-up of tension releasing into the heroic Gondor motive/Siegfried motive respectively), though temporally much compressed https://t.co/bZ65gqhCh8
While we're on Götterdämmerung, Werner Herzog's juxtaposition of Siegfried's Funeral March with the burning oil fields of Kuwait in Lessons of Darkness (1992) creates one of the most powerful scenes in cinema.

The second. The first line here is by Kurnewal (sung by Herbert Jenssen). Here, the first section, based on the Shepherd's Song, is mostly cut. But what a performance of the intense later sections. Unlike Siegfried, Tristan doesn't have to be sung by a demigod. But we've got one.

Vickers is excellent, but how could move on without hearing Melchior? So here's the first monologue, in a 1942 studio recording with Leinsdorf. The second half of it, where the music of Act 2 returns, is heavily cut so I skipped it.

Sibelius Violin Concerto. This is what I listened to as I strolled these primeval lands and breathed in the cold, dry air. (Oistrakh/Ormandy 1959)

An unbelievable movement, containing both the above passage — one of the most hellish — and the below, of utmost heavenly beauty. And to think they are based on the same motive…
Now, some exceptionally extended melodies from Mahler: Mahler's 9th, 1st movement, second appearance of the main theme.

The second, beginning with the reoccurrence of the Shepherd's Song and ending with a curse on the love potion, himself, and his fate. The most harrowing and intense expression of yearning and its torments.
