⠀⠀ Straightening his coat, Lucien pulled his own wand from his sleeve. With a flick of his wrist and a touch of practical grace, he sent his office door swinging open. ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ “I meant you should be ready to defend yourself against me, Theo—not merely hand over your wand just because I told you to,” Lucien joked, his eyes sparking with a rare, lighthearted warmth. “Why are you being as obedient as a lost puppy? It’s almost... cute.” ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ Seeing that the older man was truly pinned by the spell, the strength finally left Lucien’s legs. He sank slowly to his knees, his head hanging low, the heavy silence of the corridor more suffocating than the smoke. ⠀⠀

⠀⠀ Lucien’s eyes widened, the tears he was fighting back blurring his vision. He couldn’t let them fall; he couldn't afford to be weak. He knew that if he lowered his guard for even a heartbeat, it would be his downfall. ⠀⠀
