the only diversity-centered discussion I'm looking to have about Magic is how Aetherdrift is a pastiche of automobile racing as a historical tool of colonialism and why they intentionally chose to set it on three "exotic" planes as stand-ins for Asia, the Middle East, and Africa
what made Magic so special to me was that it was inspired by history and culture while being forward-thinking and innovative, with some of the world's best fantasy art. all of that is gone now. it's just Funko Pops you can play a game with. it's an embarrassment to its own legacy
