And if you want to talk about the lack of diversity of club/concert/festival lineups (esp. in the US) then you should start by looking at the players in these industries & what kind of deals get made, amongst each other and with brands.
So much brunt of "fixing the scene" falls on artists, DJs and publications and little is talked about the big impact of the decisions made by the real music "industry": artist managers, big talent booking agencies, corporate festivals & venue circuits.

I use nearly all the music tech platforms and I have mixed feelings about them but I do think creators are too quick to give up their power. More talking and transparency and solidarity between artists across genre before everyone jumps in would help. .

Many artists & artist managers got obsessed with Spotify early, trying to get partnerships + better spots on playlists (thus more promo/money). They began premiering singles thru Spotify and if a publication wanted a track premiere first that would be the imbed.
Spotify sucks, but like any good vampire story, we invited them in. The difficult question is to ask how and why this happened so easily. Does anyone recall when Spotify became the default player for indie publications, and what incentives were offered to make that so?.
