The Government of West Bengal has not declared the Darjeeling devastating of Oct 4-5 2025 that claimed close to 30 lives as a disaster, so far. A senior administrative officer said to me the govt may not. Declaration of the event as disaster would mobilise Central Disaster Fund.

This road has been virtually blocked since oct 04, 2023 GLOF...and it is sept 16, 2025 now. We seldom talk about it seriously. Similar is the case further downstream in places like chumakdangi and tote goan. This is what I call 'disaster injustice' within the same basin.
