I worked for years in the former building (behind) for the Guardian but had no idea there was a horse trough opposite. Moral? Horse troughs last far longer than modern buildings.

Do you know there was an Opera house by Westminster station that was built and demolished or that Shakespeare acted in a pioneering theatre in the Elephant and Castle? Am flattered that the first Vic Keegan’s Lost London is selling well after nine years

From upstairs in the cellarium of Westminster Abbey the venues of two original Parliaments - the narrow wall mid-picture was the monks’ refectory and the building on the right is part of the Chapter House.

My brother Victor has just published the last of his “LostLondon” books about Thorney, a forgotten island in central London, formed by the Thames and the subterranean Tyburn, host to the densest concentration of ‘history’ anywhere. https://t.co/oo3IOSuXPd

An article in today’s Observer says there have been “at least 90,000 cyber attacks on the UK defence system over the last year” Who is doing this?
