After a ton of hard work and coordination, the Volusia Family Resource Center is open at 3747 W. International Speedway Blvd. in Daytona Beach! This facility has been a vision of @SheriffChitwood since he was Daytona's police chief.

This week, Deputy Mendoza dropped off 300 autism seatbelt covers for kids at Easterseals in Daytona Beach. In partnership with the @vsy_foundation, these let first responders know if someone in the vehicle may resist help or not always respond to verbal requests.

We are looking to add a trained mental health professional to our team at the @VolusiaSheriff 911 Communications Center. You will be hired by @SMAHealthcare and embedded with us to give expert insight on calls involving mental health crisis.

Out of a potential tragedy, we met some incredible new friends & partners. Irondog K9 International is an amazing org that didn't just pay Ax & Endo's vet bills - they're giving all our K-9 deputies invaluable training on how to save these dogs' lives, and the equipment to do it.
Irondog K9 presented Medals of Honor to Ax & Endo. This org has contributed more than $25K to our K-9 unit, covering about $4,000 in medical bills, $4,200 in first aid kits and more than $18K for a 3-day K-9 medic course for every single VSO K-9 handler, underway now. THANK YOU!

A deputy was injured this morning in a traffic crash on Saxon Blvd near Merrimac Lane, Deltona. He's been transported to the hospital as a trauma alert. @SheriffChitwood is on his way to the hospital and we will post updates when we can. Pull for a full & fast recovery please!

Those dogs took bullets for their handlers and still had to be pulled out of the fight! Special animals who are truly part of our family. Thank God they're OK & our deputies went home safe this morning.

Thankful our detectives put this child molester behind bars. Just can't help but feel ashamed that another victim reported him in 2019 & 2020 but was discredited by her own family. If you have info in this case or any other, we have detectives ready to go to work for you.
