I'm going to bed, & when I wake up the leader of the CPC will still be someone who doesn't believe in taking action on climate change, isn't progressive on women's rights, marriage equality or international development & still doesn't have a plan to help 🇨🇦 through COVID-19.
I’ve changed in my office after a run before. I’ve also left my camera on without realizing it. Never at the same time, that just makes me lucky.
My pal Will made an honest mistake.
But sharing a leaked nude photo of someone without consent, that’s a choice. An unethical one.
I challenge Mr. Poilievre to explain to Canadians what part of the Prime Minister’s message, simply denouncing hate against a vulnerable minority, that he so strongly disagrees with.
Pierre is no leader, his populist rage-farming is unbecoming of anyone who seeks to help people.
Poilievre didn’t march in a Pride parade & didn’t bother to show up to the Parliament Hill Pride flag raising.
But he’s just thrilled to get a photo with a homophobic fan!
Don’t buy the “I didn’t see his shirt” BS…
Yeah you did, Pierre. Grow up.
Today Canada elected the first-ever Black Speaker in the House of Commons, and a First Nations Premier for the Province of Manitoba.
Representation matters.
Today is a good day for democracy.
👏🏽🇨🇦
Every person in Ontario needs to listen to our province’s Auditor General in this video.
It’s corruption in plain sight - Doug Ford is making his friends $8.3 Billion richer while reneging on his promises to protect our Greenbelt, one of Ontario’s greatest natural assets.
Ontario Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk says Premier Doug Ford’s plan for the Greenbelt was biased, truncated, lacking expertise across different ministries — and select developers had access to Housing Minister’s Chief of Staff.
Sitting on the start line of a race I’d always take a confident breath & think about all the kms, hard-strokes & chin-ups that got me there. This time I’m confident bc of my team & my volunteers. We’ve done the work. Thanks to my neighbours for an amazing campaign.

It turns out that the wealthy Ontario developers who get preferential treatment from Premier Ford’s office are also on Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre’s buddy list.
Conservatives always run “for the people” campaigns - but they never walk the walk.

After representing Canada for 20 years on the international stage as an athlete, today I’m announcing my intention to seek the federal Liberal nomination in Milton, Ontario.
How about:
“The Rt. Hon. John Turner, who served Canada for over 22 years as Member of Parliament, also served as Minister of Justice, Attorney General, Minister of Finance as well as Prime Minister, has passed away at 91”.
Rest in Peace John Turner, thank you for your service!

With over 314,000 doses delivered yesterday, Canada takes the top spot on the G20 daily vaccine podium!

Let's maintain this momentum & team-work, Canada!

The news out of Nova Scotia this week is infuriating. Those responsible must be held to account for their actions, the RCMP must do more.
The Mi'kmaw fisher’s treaty rights are irrefutable. The hatred, violence and racism they’ve been subjected to has got to stop immediately.
Everyone is stressed. There’s a lot of uncertainty & cause for concern.
But for the 10th straight day 🇨🇦 has been 2nd in the G20 for COVID-19 vaccinations:

I met with fellow MPs to discuss the deteriorating situation in Pakistan. I remain very concerned by the violent arrest of former PM Imran Khan.
I want to express solidarity with Pakistani Canadians and reaffirm our commitment to global peace, democracy, freedom & human rights.
“When we accept racist rhetoric from those in positions of power, such as Derek Sloan, we condone the racist actions & anti-Asian hate crimes that take place every day in communities across Canada.”
Shame on Mr. Sloan, his views have no place in Canada 🇨🇦
Pierre Poilievre skipped his climate change denying tantrum vote in the House of Commons to attend a fundraiser.
The only thing Pierre is interested in is power.
He’s a reckless, irresponsible, unaccountable and unserious drain on the Canadian political discourse. 👎🏻
Got my first dose today.

Mr. O’Toole says he believes in:
Truth & Reconciliation - Conservatives voted against UNDRIP.
Supporting LGBTQ - they voted against a ban on conversion practices.
Women’s rights - CPC voted to reopen the abortion debate.
Climate change - his party questions whether it exists.
What we saw last week in Washington was truly shocking. But we can’t sit up here in Canada and pretend that our country is immune from the racist and hate-filled beliefs that led to these horrifying events. (1/5)
Now it's *official*...
Thank you to my family, friends, team and everyone who joined us as I was sworn in as Milton's Member of Parliament.

A new low for the Conservative Party of Canada.
Just now, they all stood voted against the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement.
Canada’s support for Ukraine should have been unanimous…
I’d say shame on Pierre Poilievre & his caucus, but it’s clear they have no shame.
Everyone is frustrated. We all want this pandemic to end, and it will. But the fight isn’t against your neighbour, it’s against the virus.
Canadians are famous for being nice & neighbourly. Let’s use that strength to get us out of this pandemic, and back to normal.

Pierre dared the CBC to ask the PBO about their report.
So, they did.
The verdict: Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives have been lying to Canadians non-stop.
Face the facts, Pierre…
Your pants are on 🔥
You supported the illegal convoy when they blocked borders and shut local economies down. Brought them timbits and took selfies.
But you’ve got a problem with workers legally organizing to collectively bargain and negotiate a fair deal?
So the federal Port of Vancouver is on strike, blocking billions of dollars of goods, driving up prices & threatening jobs. And the minister responsible is busy showing off his new sneakers. Any wonder why, after 8 years of Trudeau, so many families can’t pay their bills?
Absolutely absurd.
Pierre Poilievre‘s bills the taxpayer for his expenses - in excess of $18,600 every single day!
My guess is that after two decades as an MP, he knows an “eligible expense” when he sees it.
How is this even possible?
In 6 months,
@PierrePoilievre
billed taxpayers $3,374,573.49 in expenses – averaging $562,428.91 per month. While talking about food banks and living in a taxpayer-funded home, his expenses could cover caviar. We need integrity – actions and words to align. Who is Pierre…
Pierre Poilievre thinks he can bully Parliament by applying 130 individual votes against our Fall Economic Statement.
We are here in the House of Commons voting all night.
His behaviour is reckless, wasteful, unprofessional & stupid.
The kicker? He didn’t even show up to vote.
Mr. O'Toole, out of respect for the important work that journalists do...
Let’s agree to avoid trying to score cheap political points by attacking the media.
It's a dangerous path & we’ve seen where it gets us.
It is unacceptable that Muslim Palestinian worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem are once again being attacked during the holy month of Ramadan. In a year where Passover, Easter & Ramadan all coincide, it is an opportunity to recognize how much we share, not what divides us.
I’m proud of my friend
@GregFergus
.
As Speaker of the House of Commons, he rose today, as is his right, to speak to the issue of decorum in this chamber.
The Conservatives protested. Many of them stood up, turned their back to him, left the chamber. Others hollered & heckled.
I wrote a letter to the Commissioner of Canada Elections
@cef_cce
requesting an immediate, independent investigation into allegations of potential financial crimes in the current CPC leadership race that could have benefitted the Conservative Party of Canada. My letter is here:

Canada is a fortunate country - much of the stability we can take for granted is thanks to the leadership of the Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney. He was Green before it was cool, a leader on free trade, a staunch advocate for children and a kind, generous man.
Condolences to his family.
I agree with the Prime Minister. The Conservative Party needs to stop treating Canadians like fools.
They can either truly reject hateful and intolerant rhetoric, or just tell the truth and admit they have plenty of room for those views within their party.
Sportsmanship is important to me. I never disparaged my competition as an athlete. That won’t change in politics.
Instead, I’ll focus on my neighbours. I’ll represent them by being a present member of our community, a good listener & a champion for progress.

Peterborough - take notice.
Your MP votes against affordable housing measures, and talks down Canada’s National Housing Strategy in Ottawa, but shows up for the photo opps, and takes credit for the funding when she’s back in Peterborough.
MPs shouldn’t take credit for projects at home if they oppose them in Ottawa.
After voting against support for affordable housing, the MP for Peterborough then showed up at the announcement to take credit for a project we’re funding through the very program she voted against.
This election isn't about parties & leaders. It's about us. Who we want to be and where we want to go - together - as a country.
This October 21,

and vote for me - Adam van Koeverden. 🇨🇦🗳✅
I’m a proud co-op kid.
Unlike Poilievre Conservatives, we invest in supportive, affordable homes.
Calling them “soviet-style” is offensive.
Stigmatizing low income communities won’t build homes. The Conservative plan won’t either.
Our plan is building more homes, today.

Every member from the Liberal, NDP, Bloc & Green parties stood and clapped in solidarity, but not the Conservatives. Not one of them stood up.
When someone shows you who they are, don’t forget.

In Sudbury, Trudeau gives his strongest push back on the anti-vaccine protesters yet.
"I'm not gonna back down, no matter how many of them show up to shout us down from what I know to be true, what science tells us and what Canadians have told us"
This is false & disingenuous. I am committed to helping students & young people - that includes being honest with them.
Canada Student Loans were tripled in the last 6yrs. It’s a subsidy program, meaning it costs money, doesn’t raise it. Over $15B actually - a good investment!
Since coming to power, Trudeau has profited off of student debt, to the tune of nearly $4 billion in interest payments.
I would immediately remove interest from the federal student loans.
What would it mean to you if interest were removed?

Disappointing that Mr. O’Toole’s Conservatives seem to think that being in opposition means they should oppose everything, including science and common sense.
The Conservatives have become belligerent in the House of Commons.
They don’t respect the authority of the speaker or any basic rules of dignity or decorum during debate. Their leader, Pierre Poilievre revels in the chaos and encourages the disorder.
It’s embarrassing.
An apology is not enough.
For over 4yrs Pierre Poilievre has used embedded hashtags in his social media posts to attract attention & support from men with deplorable views towards women.
He says he was unaware. If that’s true, then who is getting fired?
Pierre Poilievre’s heckling in the House of Commons isn’t just unparliamentary and unbecoming of his role, it’s totally irresponsible.
He recently yelled that the wildfires in Alberta were “started by your government”.
His far-right, fact-free conspiracy peddling is absurd.
A huge thank you to all of my friends & neighbours here in

I don’t take your trust for granted. I intend to earn it every day by listening, organizing & working hard.
Thank you, Merci! 🇨🇦
Double vaxxed for a two-dose summer.
Took a Moderna since the best vaccine is the one that’s offered to you. With my first jab being Pfizer I believe that’s being called the “Arnold Pharma”.
Thank you to docs, nurses & students across 🇨🇦 administering shots!
Get it! 🇨🇦❤️💉💪🏽
Poilievre refuses to answer whether he would rip up our government’s historic dental care plan in Budget 2023.
Almost 300,000 kids have the support they need to visit the dentist thanks to this program, and he pretends it doesn’t exist.
He wants to take Canada backwards.
“Premier Ford and Minister Clark, saying to hell with the environment & farmland, crafted a bureaucratic process to ensure developers got what they wanted.”
Billions of dollars for their wealthy developer supporter friends. Shameful, unabashed corruption.
Look who I ran into!
Thanks
@BobRae48
for the quick chat early this morning before I did an interview on Global. Your advice is always welcome as I step into this world of public service.
It’s 12 days until the federal election.
Andrew Scheer & his Conservatives haven’t released their platform.
Recall 2018, when Doug Ford ran with no plan, on back of napkin promises.
Let’s not make the same mistake twice. Don’t double-down on Doug Ford.
Today I was honoured to speak for the first time in the House of Commons and ask
@JustinTrudeau
about the new NAFTA Agreement.
I also took this time to thank my neighbours in Milton for the opportunity to serve them and to ensure their voice is heard here in Ottawa.
Just now in the
@HoCChamber
, Bloc MP
@ChristineNorm
expressed her disgust at the proposed overturning of abortion rights in the US. Deputy PM
@cafreeland
responded in solidarity, stating clearly that we will always, unequivocally, stand up for women’s reproductive rights.
My colleague, Minister Karina Gould was a voice of calm, measured reason in the House of Commons today.
Even as members of the Conservative party tried to shout her down, she remained calm and delivered her message clearly - I’m so proud to work with you, Karina!
Members of Parliament may share different opinions on legislation or policy. We all have a responsibility to use our words judiciously as elected officials.
In this moment of national emergency we must all seek ways to deescalate the situation for the safety of all Canadians.
Men aren’t great at talking about our health or being proactive. So here goes.
My dad Joe beat ColonCancer at 46. I’m 38 next month & I don’t want to give it a chance.
So I had my first colonoscopy today. I’m healthy & I’ll be back in 5yrs to make sure I still am.
@coloncanada
There are over 30 incredible public schools in
#Milton
.
I'm proud to stand with the Liberal government that sees our public education system as a strength, not as a place where parents put their children because they're too busy - the way Andrew Scheer & the Conservatives do.
Great public schools are the bedrock of 🇨🇦’s economy. The Conservatives don’t get that. That’s why they’d weaken public education with a reckless plan to fund private schools and homeschooling, as this video makes clear.
The Conservatives think that since Canadians die from cancer, diabetes and overdoses, we shouldn’t be concerned if they continue to die from COVID-19.
You’d think that as a medical doctor, this MP might acknowledge that none of those ailments are contagious. Not this doc.
6,000 people die every month from heart disease; 3,500 die from diabetes; 7,000 die monthly from cancer; 600 people die every month from overdose, which is four times the amount pre-pandemic.
These diseases are a reality in our lives. It is time to learn to live with COVID-19.
As Members of Parliament, we have a benefits plan that includes dental.
But many self-employed folks and lower wage workers don’t. It means their kids don’t, either.
It’s a new low, folks - Poilievre & the Conservatives just voted against our Bill to help kids see a dentist.
Milton, thank you for your support & your confidence.
I am so fortunate to have an amazingly committed, hard-working, diverse team - unified behind the ambition for a better community.
The work has only just begun.
Imagine being a grown man, the leader of a national political party, and being intimated to the point of ridiculing a 16 year old girl for being purposefully & passionately committed to something.
49% of Canadian Conservatives voted for this guy as their leader.

You can’t make this stuff up.
“Nearly half of the Conservatives’ new governing body members are lobbyists for oil, pharma, real estate and anti-union companies.”
It turns out that the wealthy Ontario developers who get preferential treatment from Premier Ford’s office are also on Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre’s buddy list.
Conservatives always run “for the people” campaigns - but they never walk the walk.
I don’t care about a blue checkmark.
I care about combatting misinformation.
I care that Twitter has decided to facilitate the rapid & unchecked transmission of half-truths, falsehoods and fear-mongering.
The outright harassment & abuse that my female colleagues, their families & staff constantly endure online & in-person is totally unacceptable.
Nobody should need to put up with this garbage.
It’s everyone’s responsibility to call it out, report it, & never accept it as normal.
“People come up to me and the number one comment is: ‘keep going, ignore the media.'"
Mr. Ford, I've knocked on tens of thousands of doors over the last 9 months and that is not what they're saying about you. Or Scheer.
"Fundamentally, you're talking about immunizing fewer children, more mothers dying in childbirth, less potable water and more refugees suffering in conflict zones...”
Mr. Scheer wants to cut our foreign aid by 25%.
Irresponsible. Unjustified. Unkind.
This is not leadership.
A thin-skinned, belligerent and insecure career politician attacking the media after his party insisted on granting relief to journalism outlets.
This demonstrates contempt and a pathetic lack of accountability.
Pierre Poilievre is simply not Prime Minister material.
Excellent job from this reporter, pushing for an actual answer to her question amid relentless personal attacks.
The whole “you’re biased” tantrum in the face of any and all tough questions is getting old — and obvious — really quickly.
As of today, conversion therapy practices are ILLEGAL in Canada. Our Liberal government's bill to completely ban these practices is now in force.
Despite MPs & senators working together to pass the bill, Conservative MPs now say they oppose its quick passage & want to weaken it.
I got into public service in part, to find solutions for poverty. Bill Morneau & I have that in common. The lowest poverty rate in 🇨🇦 history, due in part to his policies. Gender budgeting, CCB, higher taxes on the top 1% - thanks Bill! Also, one of the nicest guys in Ottawa.
