💇🏾♀️ For @NPRLifeKit I got to talk about my relationship with my hair and learn from some incredible Black women about natural hair history and practical care tips. Creating this was fulfilling and educational in so many ways and I’m excited to share it! 🫰🏾

This morning I was laid off by NPR along with the majority of this amazing team. We just launched our new season last week after reporting/producing it for over a year. Sending all the love to @gabbybulgarelli @samjleeds @sorayashock y'all are superstars and they did us dirty.
🧵Louder Than A Riot has been cancelled by NPR. Our producers and editor have been laid off, although NPR would like everyone to stay on until June to finish publishing the show. We are taking some time to process what this looks like for our staff. 1/4

🚨 My goodness. Facing budget shortfalls, @npr just announced it will cancel the Summer 2023 internship program. This makes me truly sad. I may be wrong but I don't recall this happening in my nearly 30 years. @NPRinterns are part of NPR's lifeblood & a pipeline of great talent.

My homophobic @nytopinion story (with a happy ending): Back in May, an editor solicited me for a pitch, and I said I wanted to write a piece on the queer case for prison abolition, centered around the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in June.
