When market valuation takes priority over job creation: ‘For the tech industry, revenue per employee has become a prized performance metric.´ (Not every day you see the top comment in the FT calling for a new tax - an AI tax, with over 450 upvotes!) https://t.co/pe8UwelzTQ

How much exercise do you get a day? 🚴♀️ When young adults start working, the amount of daily physical activity they do increases sharply – unless they work from home, in which case it decreases. Read more about this new research from @MRC_Epid 👇 https://t.co/gD3oeYxuNG

And here is the post that ignited the debate. Sadly the dualist discourse of allowing politics yes/no in the classroom is taking over, shadowing the alternative of a dialogue in a case per case basis. Fortunately consensus in real life is more frequent than in social media.
I have long been uneasy about a growing compulsion for academics to bring political agendas into teaching and research. (I believe political views are private and that the lecturer has no right to use their platform for propaganda.) Turns out I wasn't just imagining this.

This is actually a political position. One defined by the status quo, but still a position. Knowledge production is always shaped by community dynamics and individual choices (btw thread & replies are great examples for #ScienceAndTechnologyStudies #STS)
I teach computer science and challenge him to find any politics in my class. When political opinions start meddling with scholarship, it ceases being science and becomes activism.

There is no such thing as “neutral knowledge” and so there is no such thing as “a-political teaching”. It doesn’t really matter what you’re teaching or which approach to knowledge you are taking. It is all always political

Here are the most FASCINATING facts I could find about Mexico: 1. Mexico is so huge it’s hard to comprehend. You can fit 30 European countries in Mexico and still have room to spare

Thought I would summarise why there is so much excitement in the space weather community right now. There’s a monstrous sunspot group on the Sun that’s massive enough to be visible to the naked eye (please use eclipse glasses) 🌞 👓 (1/n)

This cute little thing is an #Axolotl, it is an outstanding example of resilience. Popular among researchers, it can regenerate limbs, gills and parts of their eyes and brains, and it is Mexican. (Yup, we know how to adapt) you can find them @ChapultepecCDMX #anfibium
